I don't know if the box I received was a newer version or an older version than the one picture. It did not come in a clear plastic box as shown. It was a paper cardboard type box, but it did say it was GBC. The spines that came in the paper box version did not snap together easily. The plastic nubs that are supposed to go into the holes of the other half would bend a little when trying to snap together. It had to go together just right. The little plastic tool that comes with it didn't do any good either. I've had the other version (the ones that come in the clear plastic box), and those snapped together easily, and the plastic tool was better too. The plastic tool that comes with the newer version (I'm assuming the paper box one is newer) isn't stable enough to push the two halves together. It "stretches", and so it is supposedly one-size fits all, but it doesn't work well. The older tool is made by size of the spine, so it worked only on that size, and because it doesn't stretch to fit the spine circle, it forced the two halves together better.
For the version with the clear box and the size-specific plastic tool, I'd give it 5 stars, but for the version I got, I only give it three.
