4.0 out of 5 stars ProForm 8.0 Crosswalk Elliptical
It's a crosswalk, not a real elliptical (even at 22" strides position the "step elevation" is about 8"). If you like consistent stepping it's not appropriate.

It shows a good and sturdy construction for the price. The main crank is supported by sealed bearings (important): what a pity the other moving parts are supported by (noisy) bushings, otherwhise the...

2.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY
I got this elliptical for Christmas. It was broken from day one. It took ProForm 1 month to get it running and then it broke down again with in 7-8 weeks of being fixed the first time. My advice run as fast as you can!!! ProForm does not believe in fixing things in a timely manner. You will be on hold for more than 15 minutes and then be told they will get back to you. I...

4.0 out of 5 stars ProForm 8.0 Crosswalk Elliptical, April 12, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: ProForm Crosswalk 8.0 Elliptical Trainer (Sports)
It's a crosswalk, not a real elliptical (even at 22" strides position the "step elevation" is about 8"). If you like consistent stepping it's not appropriate.

It shows a good and sturdy construction for the price. The main crank is supported by sealed bearings (important): what a pity the other moving parts are supported by (noisy) bushings, otherwhise the rate would be 5/5.
It's not as compact as the advertisement would suggest (46" x 36" footprint): the real working area is about 36"W x 74"L and the weight (nearly 200lb) makes it difficult to move from the working area (2 persons are necessary or a tool to lift it).
It was a good buy from "iFitnessDirect" (free shipping and fast delivery): no problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT WORKOUT, July 15, 2008
This review is from: ProForm Crosswalk 8.0 Elliptical Trainer (Sports)
I love this machine. I have really bad knees and have tried out other types of elliptical machines, which cause knee pain 5 minutes into the workout, but with this machine 45 minutes just fly by. I could not believe how easy 45 minutes on this elliptical are. I also own a rowing machine and a treadmill, this is my FAVORITE!!! I highly recommend!

My advice run as fast as you can!!! ProForm does not believe in fixing things in a timely manner. You will be on hold for more than 15 minutes and then be told they will get back to you. I could have bought the elliptical that is utilized at my gym for $95 more which is higher quality and it WORKS. I was really disappointed. I have owned my ProForm treadmill for 10 years no problems with it. I tried to stay a loyal customer but after purchasing this I will never purchase another piece of ProForm equipment.

1.0 out of 5 stars proform crosswalk 8.0 ripoff, June 30, 2009
This review is from: ProForm Crosswalk 8.0 Elliptical Trainer (Sports)
ProForm elliptical machine not worth the hassle when it breaks down and parts are needed. Customer service is non available (your call is very important to us) is a joke. After holding for 15 minutes the recording says we will call you back, you will not lose your place in line. Nobody ever calls. When you finally do get thru and order the part, it is "on back order" just long enough to let your warranty expire. They have to ship it from China where the machine is made. Total ripoff for sure.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Buy For The Money, March 11, 2009
This review is from: ProForm Crosswalk 8.0 Elliptical Trainer (Sports)
Just received the crosswalk about 2 weeks ago. The instructions were very explanatory on the assembly and it took approximately an hour to put together. Thus far, I have enjoyed the crosswalk as it does not impact my knees as other ellipticals have done in the past. Looking forward to the coming weeks. So far, I consider this a good buy for the money.

This review is from: ProForm Crosswalk 8.0 Elliptical Trainer (Sports)
I've been using this machine for over a year and love it. Yesterday something went wrong and I hear grinding on the left side where the pedal connects to the outside casing. Any ideas?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Machine at any price !, July 8, 2010
This review is from: ProForm Crosswalk 8.0 Elliptical Trainer (Sports)
I recently purchased this elliptical directly form Proform for $699 and free shipping. I am 65 and retired Navy. I had read other reviews about this model elliptical being damaged in shipment. This elliptical came with 4 inch angle iron on each corner which I removed and will recycle along with at least 25 pounds of cardboard and other packing materials. I did put this togeather by myself following the simple well written instructions with no problem. I did use marine grade bearing grease in place of the supplied grease. OK there was one problem.......lol...it took me awhile to find where to plug in the power supply for the console, no batteries :), it's on the front of the left pontoon. I am very pleased with the quality of the materials and all of the welds. I suggest putting it togeather near the spot where it will be used because it is HEAVY, it does have wheels on the front.
lol.... not in good enough shape yet to use the ifit programs (20) that are included in the console, the shortest one is 20 minutes. but have used it 15 minutes 3 times a day since I rec it 1 week ago. It is a quiet and stable machine. I look forward to many years of use from it. Peace n Happiness 2 All............

1.0 out of 5 stars Junk, October 29, 2009
This review is from: ProForm Crosswalk 8.0 Elliptical Trainer (Sports)
In my 6 months of use this machine has given problems again. Very noisy which affects the quality of the workout. It was repaired about 2 months back. The repair process took over 2 months: defective parts sent; missing parts; additional problems noted by tech.

I have serious concerns on this machine model. It is discontinued by Proform.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Elliptical EVER, adjustable stride for your whole family (18", 20", 22"), April 13, 2011
By
This review is from: ProForm Crosswalk 8.0 Elliptical Trainer (Sports)
This elliptical is great, since I am tall I really need the 22" stride.
Most ellipticals only have a 18" stride. But other members in my family are "short" and since we didn't want to have more than one elliptical, this one is great, it easily changes the stride lengths from 18", 20", 22". This is a steal at $1,500.

Here are some other great features...
Center Drive Design - Most ellipticals are either front or rear drive designed. The center drive is getting to be more popular. The center design of the elliptical mechanism tends to better center an individual while they exercise. It is a more natural positioning. And unlike a front drive design, you don't have the pedals sitting on rollers that are more likely to wear out.

More Stable - Unless you get a very heavy model, many elliptical trainers are not that stable. They may tend to rock, especially during a strenuous workout. The center drive ellipticals have a square base that contributes to a solid, stable feel.

Close Pedal Distance - One additional advantage to the center design of the NordicTrack A.C.T. is the pedal distance. They are closer than many models. This is an attractive feature to females of average to below average height. Many complain about the discomfort of the pedal distance of many front and rear drive ellipticals.

In addition to the above features you also get a built-in cooling fan and speakers with MP3 input. There are also 20 workout programs that focus on aerobic, weight loss, or performance goals.

1.0 out of 5 stars do not buy, April 9, 2010
This review is from: ProForm Crosswalk 8.0 Elliptical Trainer (Sports)
Do not buy anything from this company. The product developed bearing problems within a couple of weeks & their "service" dept is obviously trained to stall, stall, stall and then send out the wrong parts. Then the tech gets sent out much later. Then when those parts fail, the same lame-brain process starts again. Every call to the "customer service" is belatedly returned & then it is always aimed at putting the blame on the tech, but the end is always the same: we are not going to fix it so you are happy, we are not going to replace it, and, since we have now delayed this past thirty days, we are not going to return your money. Do NOT buy from this company!!
