4.0 out of 5 stars Size matters
This is my 3rd treadmill in 35 years, the 1st one after 15 years of trusty service did not move with us. Our second one is now 20, the belt is showing its age. still functional but after 20 years we decided to purchase a new Treamill. Now for the review and advice, NO you do not get what you pay for, you pay for what you need.

Great product! The endoint shipper and Amazon got their wires crossed. The delivery firm didn't have Amazon listed as paying shipping/delivery. One email to Amazon got that resoved without my having to contact the delivery company again.

We use the treadmill most days of the week, neither of us are large(hey we use the treadmill) and are average height. Our typical speed is 4 to 4.8 mph and combined daily use about 1 1/2 hours

We defined our needs based on requirements. Our previous treadmills were called budget models by the sales people, not as sturdy or well built as the higher priced models we were told and a lot more money. Our experience proved other wise and with that in mind we purchased the ProForm 690 LT and are pleased. B If money was not an object a $5,000 Life Form would be great, but more than $4,000 better, No.

For our needs the Proform fits our needs and we do not have buyers regret. If you are a runner and a large person then size and a high build quality does matter and be prepared to spend over $2,000.

The other thing I should mention is noise. We tested the treadmill before we purchased it feel our sturdy it was and how much noise it made, and we found both to be acceptable. Of course nowadays most people use their I-Pods so noise to the user is not a big deal, nor is the treadmill an issue in our living situation.

In short the homework and research needs to be done and if you match your needs with the product you can keep some weight in your wallet and take it off in other areas.

For the price if it only lasts 5 years its worth it.

I absolutely love this machine! It arrived in one piece and assembly was relatively easy! My best friend also ordered this machine and it did arrive damaged but was replaced quickly. I, however, had no problems and took off running.
The features are great and you feel like you are at the gym without paying for gym memberships and you can watch what you want on TV in the comfort of your home. I did a lot of research as to what model to buy and I highly recommend this product.

Assembly is 12 steps. With a Phillips screwdriver and an adjustable wrench or visegrips, that's all you need ( product provides some Allen wrenches which are the most used in assembly. Took us 2 hours, but we took our time, and double checked each step. The company does provide a number you can call for someone to assemble after delivery if you want that. I'm a software guy, not a hardware guy, but had no issues with assembly.

The product is five star. I gave three stars due the shipping glitch, and extra time prior to purchase to see which model year it was ( Amazon should fix that in the online product description ). At the time I purchased, Amazon was the lowest price provider, and had free shipping.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product., August 8, 2010

The instructions were very clear. It took my son and I about 2 hours to assemble it and get it started. 3 people at the house got their workout as soon as we completed the installation. Very good product. Now we will see how it goes as soon as it is being used constantly. Motor is quiet, and the speaker is loud. The equipment came well packed. The movers were great. 2 guys carried the box to the 2nd floor to be placed. So far I love it.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase. It is a fairly quiet and smooth ride and even a little cushioning. It is an excellent value for the price. The lighted digital displays are large and easy to read and track your progress. I haven't use the iFit feature since I prefer a basic walk/run experience. It's a terrific machine for at-home exercise. My German Shepherd dog uses it too. In fact, sometimes she's trying to nose my off so she can have a turn. Thanks Amazon for a great buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it's supposed to, September 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: ProForm 690 LT Treadmill (Sports)
I bought this treadmill around December 2009 as a gift to myself and am very happy. Instructions suggest 2 people for assembly, although if you are careful, you can do it yourself with common tools.

Usage:

I weight 155 lbs and I use the treadmill about 2-3 times a week at speeds between 8.5 - 10 mph depending on how far I am running. My workouts are always under 3 miles on the treadmill, mostly because it gets very boring to run in the same place for more than 20 min. My girlfriend is much nicer to the treadmill, using it for the same period of time, but maybe once per week, and only at 4 mph.

Features:

The shock absorbing deck does its job and the difference between road running is clear. I don't use the built in speakers because I have a separate stereo in my basement for an ipod and mp3 cd that will always sound better than a treadmill stereo. I also don't use the ifit because I know before hand what type of workout I'm looking for, and set the speed/incline accordingly. I only folded the treadmill up once to move it into position, but the "space saver" feature was simple to use all around.

Overall Impression:

I've put this treadmill to the test, maxing out the speed every 3rd run and it has kept up. The treadmill is gentle on my knees even though my running shoes are on their last legs. I've put approx. 60 miles on the treadmill over the last 2-3 months and just started to notice a slight squeak coming from the belt. This is an easy fix with the right lubricant, basically silicone. However, make sure to check with the manufacturer for the right lubricant.

This treadmill is a good value. Of course there are others out there that are better (and more $$), but for the price, it does the job, and does it well.

I've had this product for a few weeks now and I have no complaints whatsoever. I'm a distance runner and run at 7 mph for a total of about 25 miles per week. The treadmill keeps up and I've had no issues. Putting it together was fairly simple and took about an hour. You'll definitely get your moneys worth w/ this machine!

Having read about the difficulty is setting the treamill up, I paid some guys to do it for me. They had no problem putting the pieces together, everything fit, but it wouldn't start. So we called Proform technical support. They patiently walked us through various things to check until we found a loose wire, reconnected it, and got the treadmill working. I have enjoyed it so far very much, although I am not coming close to testing its capacity.

1.0 out of 5 stars Burned out on 2nd day at 1mph use, September 11, 2011
This review is from: ProForm 690 LT Treadmill (Sports)
I bought this treadmill (790T) to use with my TrekDesk (which is amazing). So I was only using it at 1mph and no elevation. On the second day the belt went crazy (super slow then ultra fast) and suddenly stopped altogether. After re-setting, etc - it doesn't work at all anymore. Of course I live in a studio apartment so already got rid of the huge shipping box. That means I am out $750! (bought on special directly from ProForm).

I have 3 Proform pieces of equipment. The treadmill I just bought directly from them was an awful experience. The co was rude and overcharged me for delivery. Buy the Reebok instead.
