I've have been running on the Proform 705 CST treadmill almost every day for the past two weeks since I got it and have, so far, been satisfied with it. It is smooth and stable while providing ample cushioning for my 5'8, 153lb frame. Its console's quick speed and incline buttons are very handy, and its display easy to read. I have yet to try any of its programmed workouts or Ifit, but its 12 mph max speed and 12% max incline are sufficient for my fitness purposes. Some of its caveats include its lack of pace in the customary min/mile, its broken heart rate monitor, and its wildly inaccurate calorie counter. In addition, its speakers sound terrible. However, these are only minor issues that haven't affected my workouts. I haven't tried any of the other treadmills in this price range, but I would recommend this one to any recreational/fitness runner on a budget.

VERY pleased with the Proform 705 CST treadmill - 75 miles in the 3 weeks I've owned it. Speakers are much better than expected so I can really blast the music and enjoy a nice jog! Only disappoint was delivery - not only did they run over my sidewalk and destroy several pieces of bluestone (never returned my calls - it was $500.00 to repair), but a few pieces of the treadmill were cracked so obviously they dropped it at some point. Fortunately it didn't impact the performance of the treadmill. Highly recommend it, but get a floor mat - especially if you have hard wood floors. It is impossible to put together with 1 person, but relatively easy with 2 people - just carefully read the instructions and follow the correct order to assemble. (Sounds obvious, but an overzealous husband who "knows what he's doing" had to start over a few times.)

After a month of researching various treadmills, I finally settled on the 705 CST. I've had it for several weeks now, and couldn't be happier. The treadmill arrived on schedule, and everything I needed was in the box. The instructions for setting it up are really well written, and fairly easy to follow. I suggest reading through them once before you start, but it's pretty straight-forward. It definitely takes two people, and it took us about 2 hours.

I both walk and run, and can really notice the extra shock absorption. The machine is sturdy, doesn't wobble, and is a comfortable run. It's also fairly quiet (my dog isn't even afraid of it, if that tells you anything). The hand rails don't get in the way like they do on some of the other treadmills I've seen. The display is angled well, so that I don't feel like I'm reaching to touch the controls. Having the cup holders/shelves on either side is a plus, and the reading tray holds my mp3 player. An added bonus is the ability to plug my mp3 player into the treadmill - something I wasn't expecting to use, but have. I'm not sure the heart rate grip is accurate, but that's really no surprise.

Having the quick speed and quick incline is a plus. I was skeptical at first, but the treadmill adjusts quickly. I can go from walking to running in about 3 seconds. The up and down arrows control the speed and incline in .1mph increments (something I hadn't been sure about when I bought it). I haven't used the preset workouts, but there are several to choose from. I also haven't used the iFit Live yet. The only thing I'm a little unhappy about is there doesn't appear to be a way to create a user profile...but I could just be missing it.

The 705 is every bit as good a machine as the treadmills I've seen in gyms. Well worth the money!
