5.0 out of 5 stars Good for Small Hands
There is no way in hell that my little guy (currently 21 months old) will ever have the hand strength to take off this lock anytime soon. Thanks.

I bought this when we first got our front-loading washer to reduce my wife's fears about our precocious 3 year old and his older brother "playing" in the laundry room.

The problem with this device is that the only method of installing it on the washer (or dryer) is the adhesive backing. This worked great for about a month, but then it just fell off because the adhesive had worn off.

If you are concerned about your kids getting into a front load washer, I recommend buying a washer model that has a door lock button/feature. There is of course some chance that a kid could figure out how to unlock the door, but not much more so than the chance that they could figure out how to open this device, or just aggressively pull on the door until the adhesive gives out. The other option would be to put a lock on your laundry room door. Definitely more effective, and possibly cheaper.

I am so happy with this dryer lock. It has a good, solid stick and was well worth the money. Now my little 2 year old doesn't play with the dryer door anymore. Thst in itself is money well spent.

Just remember to clean the surface well prior to sticking and practice where you will put it so you do not have to readjust it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great way to keep your toddlers from locking themselves in!, January 25, 2012

This product does exactly what it says. It is a great way to keep toddlers from locking themselves into front loading washers. It springs back after opening which also leaves a couple inch gap of open door to allow your front loader to dry properly between uses while still keeping your kids from trapping the cats or each other in the drum!

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this thing!!, April 21, 2011

My son is 4 and he can open it, but that's not what I bought it for so I'm ok with that. I have a tiny laundry room right off of the garage and a front load washer. I'd try to leave the washer door open and every time I'd come in through the garage with an armload of groceries I'd bash my legs on that stinkin' washer door. Leaving it closed made the washer stink, so that wasn't an option either... This lock looks great (like it came with the washer) and it holds the washer door mostly closed when not in use allowing about a 1 inch gap. It's perfect! No more knee banging and no more stinky washer! Yay!!

Easy to install, works like it should! My kids won't be strong enough to turn these for a long time... No key, just a complex sort of mechanism with a push-button and twist that need to happen simultaneously. Not only does it make doors tough to open, but impossible to close completely without twisting the lock. Great idea. Now my washer can air dry (reducing mildewy smell) after a load without me worrying that the kids will crawl in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best adhesive & easy to install, June 27, 2010

We use this lock for both our dryer and front-loading washer.

It was easy to install (peel & stick). There is also a way to adjust if the door is not flush with the lock.

Having had trouble with another safety lock that did not stick, this lock has 3M adhesive that can withstand the heat of the appliance. A previous lock lost it's stickiness.
