My eight year old Lhasa has major separation anxiety. I have adjusted to take her with me where ever I go. I hate to sedate her, I know it confuses her and freaks her out more, because she can't understand why she feels the way she does. Pro-quiet works really well. It is used as a relaxant instead of a sedative. I have yet to try it with thunderstorms or fireworks, but I gave her some before I left, I was only gone for 15mins I wanted to try it first. She seemed to do fine with it. Not showing any of the signs of be sedated or upset that I left her. It also works well when I took her somewhere she is unfamiliar with. I like this because I can double up the dose, if needed. However it is not recommended to use more than seven days without at least two days of no use. The dogs were shown to grow a tolerance for the medication. I didn't feel comfortable give it a five star because I haven't used it extensively, and I don't know how well it works with a lot of situations, But what I have tried with it, I am happy. It is also nice because there are only natural ingredients used, no chemicals or anything, just stuff that can be found outside. Except for the vegetarian beef flavor, I'm not sure where that comes from.

I've tried quite a few different products and not only does my dog like this one, it seems to help her with her anxiety. She gets one just about 3-4 times a week for general anxiety. Great delivery, great product.

This item seemed to help our little Pom who started acting really nervous. He has come out of it now but I still keep this product on hand, just in case.

When a stressful situation is coming up, such as a thunderstorm, the landscapers coming, pedicure time, etc., I give my 120-pound boy four of these. He loves them and they lull him into a nice sleep. The most I have given him in a day is eight and there are no adverse reactions.

I've researched the end result (seretonin) on behavior in many species and the conclusion depends on who you ask. Increasing the amounts of this neurtransmitter can calm you down. Or make you psychotic.

Ok thats an exageration to prove a point. The point is DOSAGE IS EVERYTHING.

I wouldn't disagree with the dosages recommended but having rescued many "messed up" dogs I'll tell you that dosage may need manipulation. You may get a better result from a lower dose.

Sadly this and other supplements like it may calm and may not...

Your dog may go out in the yard acting out of it and lay down and refuse to come inside. You may get a dog that ignores the fireworks but now screams when you leave the room when he never did before. Your dog may stop panicing or barking but now refuse to play with you also. They may hide because they feel funny and thus not feel safe. They may do great on the supplement and when they miss a dose, be more aggressive than before. Etc etc

Or your dog may calm down and have a good day

I've had all these things happen to dogs when you alter serotonin. This is essentially naturally occuring Prozac. You will altee your dogs brain chemistry temporarily. Be careful.
