5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive rower
I had two concerns about buying a rowing machine: first that I weigh over the 250 pound limit of most rowers out there, and second that I live in a second story apartment so noise is definitely a factor. I was pleased to find this machine on a good sale, and when it arrived I was able to put it together without much trouble (the instructions weren't the clearest, but it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Rower, Monitor nearly useless
I try to be fair with my reviews. I wrote one on this product over a year ago but it was recently removed despite a very helpful rating. I like this rower but the monitor is really substandard and inaccurate. Neverthless the rower is sturdy and you can get an excellent workout. However if you want to track your progress, you will be frustrated with the monitor. First,...

I had two concerns about buying a rowing machine: first that I weigh over the 250 pound limit of most rowers out there, and second that I live in a second story apartment so noise is definitely a factor. I was pleased to find this machine on a good sale, and when it arrived I was able to put it together without much trouble (the instructions weren't the clearest, but it was pretty common sense). After having used it several times now, I can safely say that this rower put all my worries to rest! It is a very sturdy machine, comfortable and easy to use. And the only noise comes from the blades pushing the water, so it is very relaxing and no complaints from the downstairs neighbors. The monitor is easy to read, and as an added perk, it comes with a heart rate chest strap. I used to enjoy rowing at the gym, and now I am excited to have a quality machine in my own home.

Having used the NordicTrack Rowing Machine until it wore out - decided to try the H2O ProRower RX-750. Received and set it up without incident - well packed and easy to follow instructions. They even supplied chlorine tablets, tools and if necessary a plastic shim to align the blades. Unlike most computers, this one has a very large display and is easy to use. Filling the tank was a snap, they provided both a funnel and siphon unit.

What a smooth ride - the H20 ProRower is the best IMHO

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Rower and Great Company, February 2, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: ProRower H2O RX-750 Home Series Rowing Machine (Sports)
I am writing my review about 6 months after purchasing this rower. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase, but felt compelled to write my belated review only after experiencing an issue with the equipment and getting great customer service. First of all, I must say that this is one sturdy piece of equipment that is very easy to assemble and set up. I am a novice rower, but quickly learned how to use the equipment and found the workouts to be extremely satisfying. I was amazed at how complete the workout felt after only 15-20 minutes. My only vice is that the display seems a little cheap, but I really only use the timer and HR monitor and they both work just fine.

I was gradually working my way up to longer work outs, when I experienced a break in the bungee cord that provides tension on the pulley that collects the row belt. The cord became pinched and ultimately snapped. The company provides a 2 year warranty, so I sent an email on a Sunday afternoon and got an email response from the president within a couple of hours. By the end of the week, I received a new cord and replaced it within minutes.
While this kind of customer service is expected for such a high end piece of equipment, it seems like it's becoming ever more rare these days.

Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase, and with the work out that I get from this machine. Knowing that they stand behind their equipment is a testament to me that Healthcare Int'l is also a great company.

First, is is HUGE and in the way when rowing in proper form. Second, it very inaccurate. If it is too close to the tank, your heartrate will read at twice the actual rate. Third, the strokes minute is way off. Fourth, the distance is way off. I presume the time is the only reliable data on the monitor. Despite all of this, you still can get a decent workout. They really need to completely redesign the monitor for this rower to come close to the best rowers on the market.

I realise that most causal exercisers won't care about the monitor but if you are serious, try the Water Rower or Concept 2 rowers that cost much more.

My first critical review I generously gave this rower a 4 star rating because I thought the average user wouldn't care about the monitor. This time I give it three stars.

This is great rowing machine and the price really can't be beat. It's solidly built and ergonomic enough. My only suggestions are to get an extra replacement recoil cord - mine was shredded in about 6 months and I had to wait a bit for the replacement. The monitor is pretty basic, but I personally don't care too much about the gadgets....It's a rowing machine, not an ipod. The resistance is decent/adequate, though not as easily adjustable as an air rower, however the feel is slightly more realistic. This one is also easy to store (can be set on its end) and move (casters on the bottom/tank end). Another plus was knowing that it was manufactured in the U.S.A. and the manufacturer's commitment to the environment was a bonus as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't go wrong, March 1, 2009
This review is from: ProRower H2O RX-750 Home Series Rowing Machine (Sports)
I did not expect such a quality product for ths price. I tried out the original waterrower at a local store and have to say that I like the quality of the ProRower better. The original water rower looks better if you prefer the woodden finish.
The good:
- Easy install, takes minutes, easy to fill
- Seat has a cushion and is very comfortable (orig waterrower did not have a cushion)
- The footrest is better quality than the orignial waterrower
- I have a 2 and 4 year old and the machine (like any water rower) is safe enough around kids when compared to other cardio equipment that you might have around at home
- The Model#750 for $699 with free shipping here on Amazon is just unbeatable for a water rower any other comparable rower is atleast $200 more on sale elsewhere.
The Bad:
- Not too sure about the monitor. I felt it was ok but I suspect it may not be accurate especially after reading some of the other reviews.
- The foot rest, thou comfortable, rotates - I wish it was fixed so that your foot doe not change position during recovery.

4.0 out of 5 stars very good machine, February 16, 2009
This review is from: ProRower H2O RX-750 Home Series Rowing Machine (Sports)
This seems to be a very well built machine. The set up was real easy. It took me about 45 minutes to complete the set up. Everything is pretty much preassembled and all you have to do is take out a couple bolts, slide on the seat and reattach the main frame, hook up the clock and fill with water. It is that easy. The water filling is pretty easy with the filling kit. One thing I did not buy was the chest strap for heart rate. This is one thing that you will need if you want to monitior you HR. I think this should be included for the price. The monitor seems cheap, but does work. I bought this machine for myself and my wife. I workout frequently and her not so much. Thought this may be an easy way to add fitness to her within the comfort of the home. Sh is not an exercise person by not means and seems to like it. It does provide a good all around workout if you put forth the effort. I would recommend this machine to anyone who does not want to get out a run/walk for cardio.

5.0 out of 5 stars ProRower H2O RX-750, March 13, 2009

This review is from: ProRower H2O RX-750 Home Series Rowing Machine (Sports)
Rx-750 was delivered way before the estimated delivery time. Very easy to set up and takes less space than would be expected from a rowing machine. The heart rate monitor works perfectly, no wires to attach or switches to turn on or off. This machine may not be the perfect workout for a world class athlete, but for someone looking for a good workout without the jarring stresses of running, this is a great machine. Easily keeps my heart rate in the maximum range (I paddled Hawaiian canoes for more than 35 years). Extremely low noise while opperating, only the heel clicks created by the foot pads, while extending the legs, and the quiet rushing of the water in the resistance tank is heard; the seat rollers are entirely silent and silky smooth. I've used many different rowers in the gym and this one is an excelent choice for the home user. The manufacturer bends over backwards to help should there be a problem, as I did have with the computer display.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great rower, June 30, 2009
This review is from: ProRower H2O RX-750 Home Series Rowing Machine (Sports)
** Make sure you get two tracking numbers, because this item ships in two SEPERATE boxes ** This will help if you only get one package at a time (this happened to me) and Amazon will show your order as complete. Amazon has no idea, even though I told them and so has the manufacture. The rower is great, though, and the sound the water makes adds to the effect. Get a seperate heart monitor if this is important to you, otherwise the monitor will do fine. Have only had for about 3 weeks and hope to have much longer. Appears to be well built.

This piece of work out machinery is very well built - but it comes in a completely inadequate box in which the machine slides around at will. Two endcaps were torn off, when the box finally arrived after more than two weeks. Setup was a breeze, use was excellent: smooth sliding seat, good solid feel. But then the shock: water was dripping out. I couldn't find out exactly where it comes from - but there is always a puddle of water under the machine after workout. With the kind of box it came in I can very well imagine what happened during transportation: bang, bang, bang. I don't have the original box anymore to send it back (far too big to store anywhere and ruined!). So I guess I am stuck with a dripping machine :-(

Update: After one month of continuous workout (2 people at least 30 minutes a day) The nylon cord band with which do the pulling is starting to disintegrate. I guess that is it. I have to return this machine - somehow...

2. Update: After contacting the manufacturer [...] a couple of times I first received some of gaskets to seal the leak - but that only worked temporarily. After the third complaint they sent me a complete NEW ROWER. Now that is what I call SERVICE!!!!
