I bought this for use as a kitchen compost bucket. After two months use it developed pinholes all the way through the side, and other spots where the stainless corroded exposing whatever cheaper metal is underneath. Maybe mine was not typical, but I've never seen stainless fail like this and I would not buy it again. On the upside Amazon says they will refund my money.

I first bought one of these pails at my local pet store. It is a great bucket that I use for my dogs water. The stainless steel is holding up much better over time than galvanized buckets and of course works better than plastic water buckets which scum seems to prefer growing in.

The first ProSelect bucket I bought is pretty much flawless, however this one I received from Amazon has a couple somewhat minor flaws. One is that the bottom of the bucket doesn't sit completely flat when the bucket is empty. When I first pulled it out of the box and set it on the counter it had kind of a wobble from the way the bottom convexed outward. When the bucket is full of water however, the weight of the water flattens it back out so it's not much of an issue, just something I noticed that struck me as odd that the first bucket didn't do.

The other issue, which is a little more important, is that the handles are not mounted directly in the center which becomes an issue when you go to pick up and carry the bucket by the handle, it doesn't hang level. It causes the bucket to tip slightly to one side so if you fill the bucket to the top, some water will spill out. It is only slightly off center but enough so that it does cause a little spillage if you've filled it close to the top.

Overall, this is a nice durable bucket that serves it's overall purpose as a dog water bucket well. I have one with no flaws and one with just a couple that I thought I should mention in the hopes that the company will keep a closer eye on quality control. If I buy another one, I'll probably try the Indipets Indipets Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Pail, 6-Quart one just to compare.

I bought 2 of these. One is still good. The other not so much. The bad one split at the top, and the split is working its way down the pail. Making it useless. I thought stainless steal would be tougher than this. I am not using them roughly either.

I bought this pail to attach to my belt and will fill it to the brim with blackberries this July. I will have my hands free to push the thorns out of my way and also scare the snakes. I'm excited to use this new pail so I won't crush my berries.

I searched and searched for a pail that was the right size to use with the BioBag 3 Gallon Food Waste Bags that I use (in Portland, OR, we have to use approved biodegradable bags in our Waste Management compost bins). I had been using a 10 qt Sterilite blue plastic pail for my composting of kitchen scraps, which was a great size, but not very pretty. After my kitchen remodel, the blue plastic bucket sitting on the counter when I cooked had to go. So, this one works perfectly. It's small enough that the bags can be draped over the lip, but large enough to hold all that the bag will. I then knot the top using 4 corners, and go dump it in the roll-cart compost bin. Occasionally the bags "sweat" and there is moisture inside the pail after dumping the bag, but that's a function of the compostability of the bags, and a quick swipe with a paper towel takes care of that. So, if you are looking for a good easy way to compost, this is your best bet. (I did try to use a stainless steel trashcan that had a foot petal and lid, but I didn't want to have to use a foot or a second hand to pitch stuff. Also, I fill my bucket up every couple of days at the max, so I didn't find I was having a stinky food problem. So I don't mind leaving my food scraps in an open topped container.)

Solid construction and heavy. Something about it brings out the urban farmer in me when I feed the pets. Easy to clean.

I had previously bought one of those plastic water bottles like you find in hamster cages ( although much larger as I have large dogs) It would not stay stable enough for my dogs to drink from it. I volunteer at a shelter and saw the pails used in the kennel. I bought a metal clip and attached each of these in my two crates and they work perfectly. My dogs are not crated for long periods of time, but these allow them to drink when they are thirsty and do not tip over and spill.
