I just used the straps for my kayak rack and that worked fine.

The wheels warp, causing the tire to fall off the rim.

While using this contraption beats carrying an 80 pound canoe over your head, it's not good for anything beyond a short, smooth trip from the garage to the truck, or the truck to the launch. I purchased this cart thinking it would ease the half-mile haul from my house to the pond. The walk is flat, but it takes me across a cut hayfield and through the woods along four-wheeler and logging roads. The terrain is not very rough, but the wheels on this cart are too small for terrain that's any rougher than a golf course. It's also very difficult to keep the cart centered on the hull of the boat while walking. The nylon strap that's supplied to attach the cart to the canoe features a cheap plastic buckle that broke in half the first time I attempted to cinch it up. The folding design is faulty as well -- there's no means of locking the cart in the open position, so it has a tendency to fold up while in use if prompted by a stick or bump on the trail. This cart was a waste of $55. I'm shopping for something better.

The quality of the Pro Source Kayak carrier is equal to others that cost much more. It makes transporting my kayak significantly easier. It does require straps to hold the unit to the kayak. Other units that I researched included them with the carrier. I was disapointed that they were not included. Fortunately, I had straps that I was able to utilize, otherwise, I would have had to go out and purchase them in order to use the carrier.

when the kayak cart arrived, the plastic wheels smelled like really stinky chemical rubber. Luckily I store it in my garage, so it isn't such a problem. It took a while for me to figure out a way to securely attach the wheels to my kayak using bungee cords. Once attached, it works well. It is too bulky to keep in the kayak with me, so i have to return it to my car before I go out on the water.

This canoe cart has a tendancy to twist of the canoe/kayak when a wheel comes in conact with any obstruction such as a rock or bump. Mine did not come with anything to hook it up to canoe or any directions on how to hook it up. The first time I hooked it up, I used a ratchet strap of my own and made sure to hook the ends on opposing frame tubes on the cart. This is because I have read that people had trouble with the carts folding up while using them. By using this method, you are not giving the opposite tube a chanse to fold up. This was not the answer to its problems though. It twisted right off as soon as I tried going over a plastic garden barrier strip. You know those black plastic things that keep weeds and grass out of a garden. To fix this, I added an aluminum stabilizer shaft bolting it through a pre-existing hole in the top of the tubing near the foam rests. This is still a flimsy set-up though and I don't recomend it unless you are an aluminum welder. Mine is just bolted with one bolt and putting pressure on this bar when loading the canoe could bend the shaft. I think by using two ratchet straps hooked on opposite tubes, you may solve this this problem. I guess I made mine work, but there better products out there. It's your money.

Great little cart for carrying a canoe or kayak. Item took all of two minutes to install. One minute to open the box and plastic bag and one minute to take off two spring pins to put wheels on and put pins back on. Also, mine came with a strap to hold canoe onto cart. Wheels do smell like rubber, wash them with some car wash soap and vinegar and it goes away if it really bothers you. Item is well built and for the price, is as good as the more expensive carriers. The foam bumpers can be adjusted in width to fit your particular canoe or kayak. Looking forward to using it.

This is a good kayak cart for the price. As other reviews have stated, it does not come with a strap and the tires stink very bad (most of these carts use the same wheels and they all stink). I just used the straps for my kayak rack and that worked fine. I have a 10ft 45lb fishing kayak (sit inside) with gear and used the cart to take my kayak approx 0.5 mile on a rocky, muddy, root covered trail and it performed fantastically. It is a little tricky to blow up the tires but if you push the tire towards the rim and/or use vise grips to grab the stem it isn't impossible. Not sure how long this product will hold up, but it seems solid enough and for the price I am very happy!!

Make sure you use 2 straps if going on uneven ground as kayaks shift with these style carts.

I wouldn't necessarily call this a ultra durable heavy duty item, but the quality is fine for my needs. When you consider the price and compare to the more expensive options out there, a nice canoe/kayak cart all in all. I read the reviews about the unit not coming with straps, so I purchased bungee cords and that seemed to work just fine. I gave this a four star rating since the tires were somewhat narrow and it made the trips over soft sand a bit of a struggle. But it worked flawlessly on hard surfaces like packed sand, gravel, concrete, etc. Some other review commented on the tires arriving with a strong plastic smell... wow, I had to set this thing outside to prevent headaches! The tires easily remove if you need to stash this anywhere, so at least you can deal with the plastic smell issue. But like I said, given the price, not too shabby. So I'm pleased and hope to get many years out of this... perhaps changing my opinion about the heavy duty description!
