We clean peoples homes.
Emily
The Pro-Team people told me this damage is caused by winding the cord clockwise instead of counter-clockwise--that is a poor response to a design defect.
Ed
The latch would sort of catch and then pop right back open.

This is the older version of an electrolux, which was also called the "Prolux". It is still, in my opinion, the best upright vacuum cleaner ever invented for professsional use. The only thing I hate is the bag change. I have saved some money by re-using the bags. Of course this voids the warranty, but I have had mine so long the warranty has expired anyway. I just carefully peel open the bottom of the bag, empty it's contents and then fold the bag back to it's original place. I staple, then tape over the seam. Good for another go. We use this vac each and every day, so doubling the life of the bag is a great cost saver.
Here are the flaws. Some of which may have been corrected since I bought mine.
#1. The switch is on the top of the handle. Many times you will find yourself inadvertantly switching off the unit while in use. This is very aggravating.
#2. It is somewhat top heavy, making it easy to fall over while using the onboard tools. I have to be careful where I place it, as it may topple over on its own. Which leads to flaw #3...
#3. The handle is suseptible to breakage as the unit falls over easily and lands on the handle.
As far as the cord goes, they are right, I had to bypass the molded part where the cord is attached to the vac, as it broke inside. I had taped the cord to the shaft to help prevent this but my daughter was trying to get that last little bit of floor space done and stretching the cord, it must have pulled apart.
All in all, we could not get our work done without this machine, it's like having another employee by the amount of work we can do with it. I am looking to purchase another one very soon.

I've purchased two of these vacs and they work well except for two things. The bottom of the plastic housing includes a bump-out with a spring loaded device to keep the handle upright. It was designed to be hollow plastic, unfortunately, with the result that the spring loaded devices soon wear through the plastic. The plastic housing has a lifetime warranty covering replacement and both of mine have gone through that process. I am told the newer models have this plastic bump-out solid so as to prevent rapid wear.

The other issue is with the cord. The cord runs up the handle and through a molded-on fastener. The cord prematurely breaks from flexing at the top of this fastener. The strain relief is not sufficiently flexible to prevent wear where the cord exits. Unfortunately you can't just cut the cord, put on a plug and use an extension cord because of the location of the wear-spot. And a new cordset is expensive. The Pro-Team people told me this damage is caused by winding the cord clockwise instead of counter-clockwise--that is a poor response to a design defect. I do not recommend this product until they change the cord design.

I have been working to the Cleaning Authority for 2 1/2 years. We clean peoples homes. Each team has about 4-5 houses a day. Other than a few minor issues....the beater bar needing to be tightened, a lose connection from it being knocked over one too many times, I have never had any issues. Considering the amount of strain we put on this vacuum, it runs great. It mostly needs regular maintenance, which is understanding with the amount of work it does in a lot of the house we clean. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone looking for something that will last them for years and do an excellent job as well as help with allergens.

Bought as its what my cleaning company uses. Makes the carpets look like they've just been shampooed, excellent suction! Very pleased with price and great price on bags.
