I was disappointed with this book. There was not one thing in it that pertained to the NJ Probation Test.
Therefore, I had no help and I had to pay for a copy of this book brand new. Needless to say, I failed the probation officers test by several points.

If you want to be diligent and study for an exam given in the State of California, do not waste your money. Get a real agent (parole/probation)to mentor you, you'll get alot further than buying this book.

It was not very useful at all. The P&P test I took was completely different from the book and utilized little of the information. Worse, the book was in need of more editing. The answer key in the back would have the answers assigned to the wrong multiple choice letter. For example, the question on a practice test might list the answers in one order, like:

a.9 people
b.10 people

...and so on, but the key in the back would say that the answer was b, 9 people.

It made studying very confusing and overall I was really disappointed with the book.

This book, even though it's full of errors, helped me pass the Probation Officer test. In fact, the actual test was easier than the examples in this book. You just have to ignore all the careless errors which are quite annoying, like having wrong answers and explanations to the example test questions.

I bought this book to study for a Probation Officer test. The basic skills practice was good enough for practice. The surprising thing about this book was what I learned about parole and probation. I became genuinely interested in the book and took all the tests. I passed the probation exam with an 83%, so I am definitely recommending this book as a study guide.

I took the test in Colorado - I am not allowed to talk about details, all I can tell you is that this book will NOT help you for the test in Colorado. May be in other states... save your money and review math problems etc....
