5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Picky Dogs
I have a 9 year old Shih Tzu who is a picky eater. He loves these treats. Even better, they do a great job of settling his stomach. Like many Shih Tzus he's prone to digestive difficulties. This product has drastically decreased vomiting and diarrhea.

I had tried these first as a sample and then bought the 1 pound bag when I saw how much he liked them. I was...

Probios dog treats are dry "probiotic," lactose-free dog biscuits that are supposed to "promote healthy digestion and total body health." These biscuits are formulated to help dogs with digestive upset or diarrhea, and are labeled for use for intermittent or supplemental feeding only. The active ingredients (listed in order) include: barley flour, rice flour, potato flakes, peanut flour, soy oil, dried Bacillus subtilis fermentation product, dried Bacillus lichenformis fermentation product, and sodium alumnio silicate.

The problem with some probiotics, however, is that sometimes the good bacteria (or Bacillus) may be killed off in the stomach, before it has a chance to work in the small intestines. The second issue that I noticed is that none of the ingredients contain high-fiber ingredients, which may be beneficial for diarrhea. That said, most of the ingredients are bland, which is helpful when a dog has gastrointestinal upset. As for palatability: I tried these on my own dog, JP, who didn't have any diarrhea of GI upset. Unfortunately, he didn't love these, and only ate them with urging. One paw down for palatability.

Probios has straightened my 3 dogs digestive systems out, and they love them.
Each one had a different digestive problem, and Probios has seemed to have corrected all three.
I will keep my kids (dogs) on these forever.
Good Product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Healthy dog treats/probiotic alternative, September 21, 2010
This review is from: Probios® Dog Treats - Digestion Support - 1lb Pouch (Misc.)
I started giving my dog Probios treats after a holistic dog food store suggested boosting my dog's immune system with probiotics. I had first tried the probiotics you mix with food, but my dog hated it. So the treats are easier to use and my dog likes them!

I tried this product because one of my dogs seemed to be having a digestion problem and when I walked him I needed to bring many plastic bags with me ....... in order to clean up after him. My dog is very suspicious of new products but there was no problem getting him to eat these treats. I only give him a few each day, in the evening. He seems to be more content now.

We have a 9 y/o Min Pin that injures himself by charging after noises of people passing by our house. Max loves Probio treats and they really seem to help him recover faster.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Really Works, September 10, 2009

This is a fantastic product. My 12-year-old Beagle is arthritic and this has really helped her move easier. I also give it to my very active Lab and, for good measure, to my Chow. They love the taste and I've seen great improvement in my Beagle since I started using this product about a year ago. This is the least expensive I've found Probios. I've only been able to find it (sporadically) for approximately $14 for this same package.

5.0 out of 5 stars Miracle treat!, January 13, 2012

My dog, who was about 8 years old when I first found these treats, had always had a very gurgly stomch and frequent diarrhea. Since I started giving her these, which she loves, her tummy is much happier....and so am I. I also have two other dogs, one of which is a picky eater, and they love these treats too. Unfortunately since I first started buying these, Amazon has doubled the price, but there is another online seller who still sells them for less than $5 a bag. I love buying from Amazon, but don't like their price.

My dog loves these treats. He wants these treats prior to wanting a greenie. When I give
him a choice he turns the greenie down and takes the Probios. He has loved greenies for at least 7 years. I like the Hip and Joint with Glucosamine, but I am not sure if it has helped him with his joint pain that he has in his foot. This is just a treat that really satisfies him. He is pretty picky about what he eats, but he loves Probios, it is his treat of choice!
