5.0 out of 5 stars Math Book
I really enjoyed using this book and the content within is something every adult should know

3.0 out of 5 stars Didn't even open it.
If you're buying this book for MATH 2008 or a similar course, consider skipping this purchase. I regretted it as I sold it back to a used book store. I didn't find the need to open it a single time. Literally.

I'm very pleased with the condition on this product. I'm also very pleased with the cost of this book. Renting it was more expensive than purchasing it. IT came very fast too!

I am in college and bought this book for a class. It showed up on time and in great condition even though it was used. No marking on the inside either which I really like. It is actually better condition than the ones at the book store. Very pleased

1.0 out of 5 stars Not very good compared to some, February 18, 2011
I purchased this book along with some other liberal arts type math text books to brush up on my math skills. I found the writing in the Problem Solving Approach to Mathematics to be very unclear as well as many of the examples. The problems at the end of the sections sometimes went way beyond what was taught in the section. This is just a good example of a confusing textbook.

I would not recommend this book, but if you are forced to use it, I recommend picking up a used copy of other math books that cover the same topics. Robert Blitzer's Thinking Mathematically is a really good book, as well as Richard Mathematical Thinking and Quantitative Reasoning. Those two books are written much better and the examples correspond more with the problems at the end of the sections. Problem Solving Approach to Mathematics is just not a good math book when compared with those two.

This book is a nice supplement to a math library. Some of the examples are excellent.

I hate math, but know that I will need to understand it to teach it. This book was very helpful in learning concepts.

1.0 out of 5 stars Coincides with College Conspiracy by NIA, August 9, 2011
This review is from: Problem Solving Approach to Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers, A (10th Edition) (Hardcover)
Yea, the book simply isn't worth anything close to what they are asking. Each year they make one or two very minor revisions and sell the latest to unsuspecting college students for over a hundred dollars!! The true value/worth can be seen by the previous years edition which can be purchased used for ONE DOLLAR, hence the real worth.

Don't get screwed, buy the previous year, save a truckload and get 99% of the needed educational material.
Greed has got to stop, this is rediculous. If you have not watched College Conspiracy produced by NIA or the National Inflation Association I would higly recommend it.

A (10th Edition) by butt. Yea, lets make some money by screwing the college kids, they won't know any better. What pigs.

Regards,

Scott

1.0 out of 5 stars Wrong book, January 17, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Problem Solving Approach to Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers, A (10th Edition) (Hardcover)
After ordering this item I received a totally different book than what it was listed as. I contacted the seller as soon as I received the book and realized that it was the 9th edition not the 10th like I orginally thought I ordered. The seller told me that it was listed as the 9th (which it wasnt because until i received the book, there was nothing that stated it was 9th edition) and it was too late to give me my money back, even though I had already sent the book back to the seller. The seller is sending the book back but what good is it to me? I am stuck with a book that is useless and out $60 dollars plus my shipping. I would have been better off paying full price for the right book somewhere else. I will never purchase from Amazon again because of this.
