one of Ritter's best,
By A Customer
This review is from: Problem Child 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Such a sad day for a review of a comedy, but I had to review this movie. John Ritter's passing will be sorely felt to those who knew him and to those who love his work. This film stands out not only because of his hilarious performance as the ever-suffering father of junior, but his remarkable ability to turn even the most mundane script into a comedy masterpiece. This 1991 film reunites John Ritter, Amy Yasbeck, and Michael Oliver from the first film. The first film was amusing at best, but this one is superb. Ben Healy moves his son to the divorcee capital of the suburban world--Mortville and hijinks ensue. Junior is selfishly protective of his father and will do anything to keep him to himself, even broadsiding his father's half-baked attempts at dating. There's the homemade porn show of the first and last babysitter and her boyfriend. There's the "shocking" removal of another date from hell, and then there's Lawanda. Amongst all these, is the sweet and sublime nurse Annie, played by Ritter's future wife Amy Yasbeck. It is difficult to watch these two. Even in this early film, their affection for each other is painfully obvious. Yet, there is a poignant bittersweetness to this movie. A few years ago, I was lucky enough to tape this off the tv and I'm so glad I did. Some scenes are edited, such as the "vomit comet" scene, but as this movie is so hard to find and not on DVD, I'd say I'm quite lucky. If you're fortnate enough to find this, you won't be disappointed. It is one of Ritter's funniest and perhaps his most honest performances. Hopefully Three's Company will be on DVD soon. May you find peace John Ritter, your laughter and your smile will be missed.

What can I truly say about this movie. The first one is a classic, and this one continues in the same vein. Junior and Ben have left "mother dearest" and are now on their own. They've moved, and if you think it's to escape trouble, you're wrong. Junior is up to his old tricks. He goes after everyone from bullys to the women of the town, and even the local terror, Trixie. The two duke it out a bit before finally joining forces to thwart the plans of Big Ben Healy. The movie has a lot of laughs, and even some heart. If you love the first one, you'll love this one. I highly recommend it, and if worse comes to worse, just pull a Junior to make a sunny day even sunnier. :)

This movie is great. It may be gross in a few scenes but it still brings home 5 stars. I especially enjoy the part when that lady gets electricuted trying to ring the doorbell. Ha! Ha! Although, I wonder why all of the copies are out of print. Who's behind this?

The worst movie of all time.,

This is the worst movie ever filmed. It has crappy special effects (the big nose, the barfing scene), it has both kid and adult humor, making you wonder who the film is suppose to appeal to? Sixth Graders?

Usually the sequels aren't as good as the original but this is an exception and I'll never forget the first time I watched this movie in the 5th grade and I gotta tell you I loved that movie and almost every time that we go to the video store, I always tell my mother to go rent it for me, man those were the days can you believe it.The movie is about Ben (John Ritter) and his son Junior (Michael Oliver) who is moving from Cold River to Mortville in search of a new life, and when they arrive Mortville, the singles are waiting for him and they even have a barbeque at the neighbor's house for which the barbeque blows up right into his face, then Junior goes to school and the principal (you'll never guess who it is!) skips Junior from the 3rd grade to the 6th grade cause the principal tells Junior that he's a genious. Later on in the movie Ben has a crush on the school nurse Annie (Amy Yasbeck who played the annoying mother on the first movie) If you liked the first Problem Child movie, you'll like this movie even more cause it's funnier and not as annoying as the first and the scenery was much prettier and there's actually a made for TV movie called Problem Child 3 and stay away from that pile of crud, it is such an awful movie, the only character that returns is Jack Warden as Big Ben.

Problem Child 2 may not be one the best films made but it sure is one of the best films ever made. This excellent film only received 1 star but those critics must be insane. Problem Child 2 is the better sequal to Problem Child and the the amazingly wonderful prequal to the horrendous(though those critics give it 2 stars) Problem Child 3: Junior in Love.Problem Child 2 is about when Little Ben(John Ritter) and Junior(Michael Oliver)move to a town called Mortville to put their life in their town in the first film behind. In school there Junior is put in sixth grade by the principal Mr. Peabody(Gilbert Gottfried) so he'll be out of the school quickly. That's the plot of Problem Child 2. Let's hope that the studio that made the first movie on DVD brings this out on DVD with GOOD special features. Well for now just try to find this film on VHS.

One of the most hilarious movies I've ever seen!,

This movie is SO funny because it's SO stupid! The parts of Big Ben and Principal Peabody are hilarious no matter how many times I watch the movie, along with Dolly, Madison, Mr. Thorne, La Wanda and Smith. This movie isn't funny for the reasons it's supposed to be... I find Little Ben, Junior and Trixie some of the most unfunny characters in the whole thing, and their parts are boring but are supplemented by the more funny supporting characters. Not to mention the 50's sci-fi reminiscent special effects. Anyway, this may not be funny the first time you watch it but keep watching it repeatedly and it gets funnier every time! Just be sure to copy it for yourself in case the original tape wears out!

this movie was absolutely disgusting, junior is more irritating than ever. I quite enjoyed PC 1, but this one...NO! If you ever happen to run into this movie, avoid it like the plague.

Pretty Awful,

I suppose, if you loved the first movie and enjoy really tasteless, third-grade level humor, you might enjoy this. It had a few small moments of being actually funny, but in general it was a poor, silly, and not very funny movie. A large part of the plot rests on the viewer's compassion for the two main children in the movie, and neither were anything but completely annoying. I enjoy slapstick comedy, but this was a failure. One of the worst movies I have ever seen. Its only possible merit is John Ritter, who gives a mediocre, but not awful, performance.
