This book is packed with practical wisdom because it comes from a book whose Author was endowed with wisdom from God. Oh how I wish that this book had been around prior to my years of foolishness beginning in High School. Parents would do their children a great favor if they had their older children read this book while praying that God would give them a heart to understand it. This is definitely not just for kids as I still find so much that applies to my life with all the baggage that I brought into the Christian life!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Hard Read but a Good Read, January 19, 2003

This review is from: The Problem of Life with God: Living with a Perfect God in an Imperfect World (Hardcover)
Like "The Book of Romance," Tommy Nelson makes sense on one of the least studied books of the Bible.

I caution you, however. This is not necessarily an easy read. It gets to be a grudge match at times, but that is the way Solomon wrote it. Nelson does a wonderful job in trying to relate this book to every day usage.

Despite the difficulties in reading this book, it will be well worth it when you finish. I give Nelson an A for the effort he put in to explaining and interpreting this difficult book.

This is a great book for somone trying to understand how God is the fullfillment of all our longings. Many Christians find it difficult to relax and enjoy the life God has sovereignly layed before us. Taste and see that the Lord is good, wise and satisfying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Michael Goni Reviews "The Problem of Life With God", September 22, 2003

If you do not have this book in your library...get it! It is a fabulous expose' on why the human race exists. In particular, I see it as a great book to give to a non-believing person who has so many questions about life and its situations. Even more important, Christian believers can put in perspective why things happen in life and how to approach them. I plan to buy 10 copies to give away as a witness to the many, many confused people, Christians and non-Christians alike that are lacking meaning or direction to their lives. Tommy is also a great orator. Try attending his church, Denton Bible Church in Denton, Texas. I am not a member, but have heard him on the Focus on the Family radio program. He tells it like it is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Winner, October 25, 2002
This review is from: The Problem of Life with God: Living with a Perfect God in an Imperfect World (Hardcover)
Tommy Nelson has another winner (like his THE BOOK OF ROMANCE). But this time, instead of focusing on love (the theme of The Song of Solomon), he focuses on Solomon's end-of-life reflections as the "Preacher" of Ecclesiastes. This book again shows why Nelson is one of the best preacher-teachers in North Texas, as he takes an oft-overlooked or seldom-preached book of Scripture and makes it profoundly relevant and meaningful.

We're all going to die and be forgotten. Most of the great people who live are forgotten in a few generations, and it happens sooner than that for most of the rest of us.

Deal with it, Tommy says.

After convincing you of this truth (it's an obvious truth, yet it's amazing how death-denying our culture and behavior are), he then he tells you how to do just that.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Problem of Life With God, October 17, 2005

This is an excellent book. The author explains many of Solomon's writings, with an in depth look at what certain phrases meant at the time. Solomon's wisdom still applies today. This book is not to be light reading, but should be savored and studied in small portions.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is teaching Sunday School, leading a bible study, etc. There is real meat here.
