One of the top 5 albums of all time,
By A Customer
This review is from: Problem With Me (Audio CD)
This album defines beauty. An integral part of the slowcore/minimalist movement of the 90s. "Bunch" by itself pays for the cost of the album. Every plucked guitar note has a purpose and every drum fill has a direction. The musical tapestry that Sooyoung Park and co. create is absolutely breathtaking. There's absolutely no filler track in the entire album! I just wish they'd play Kenya someday...

Take me someplace I've never been to...,

This record is pure nostalgia for me. As someone once put it, Seam is the trembling heartbreak of unrequited love on a cold, grey college day. Despite being so relatively unknown to the world, even the world of "indie rock", they have left a very special impact on music. If you think I'm wrong lend an ear to acts such as Death Cab For Cutie, Copeland and Ides of Space. You can clearly hear their resonance. The Problem With Me is Seam's gift to the world. The key to really appreciating this album is patience. Patience rewards the ear. Seam are masters of building up to a climax of heavily distorted yet biting powerful finales. Not to mention the lyrical mastery that is the Problem With Me. No gimmicks here, just a fine journey into love, life, hard times, and exhilaration. This is truly emotional and powerful music, this is what I wish we still had being created today. If you fancy bands like Idaho, Bedhead, the American Analog Set, Slint, etc do yourself a favor and get your hands on this record, listen to it, live, and then get Are You Driving Me Crazy? You won't be able to deny there is something special here.

Sweet Pea,

There are several moments in this album that still give me chills. A little emo, a little shoegazer, a little slo-core. All heartfelt and very powerful. My favorite indie rock record of the 90's? My favorite indie album ever.

noise-pop gems from the touch & go stable,

i got this cd off a friend of a friend, i hadn't even heard of the band, but the album came highly recomended.the beauty of this album lies in it's lack of pretention - seam effortlessly blend the skewed dynamics of slint with the noise of my bloody valentine, but do so with only a slight debt to either band. relying on great songwriting that never does more than it has to bring together a coherent album, definitely seam's finest hour.

Every song is great. Drums are fantastic. Sooyoung whispering or screaming sounds great, and many fine melodies on this album.

The unforgettable trendsetter,

Seriously? If you listened to music closely from 1987-2000, then you understand how important this record is. Next to Slint, one of the most influential, beautiful, and sublime records of its era. Bizarrely underappreciate by the broader indierock buying public, but revered by musicians, radio folk, and the like.

AWESOME! Definitely one of the best albums I have heard Sooyoung Park make. Guitar work is great and Bob Rising's drumming is mesmerizing. 5 stars baby!

Like I said, awesome. Amazing guitars and vocals. Didn't lose anything with the loss of Mac to Superchunk. Great CD to zone out to.

"Alternative" was only a fresh term in 1993 to the people who had to wait to be told that it was cool. Like the kid who tried to beat me up for listening to a band he was wearing a concert shirt for two years later. Seam is good, but if you think they were "pioneers", I would point you to any number of bands who could take issue with that...The Jesus & Mary Chain, Sonic Youth, Pavement, The Pixies, My Bloody Valentine...just to name a scattered few. Please be sure to vote. This review is not helpful to you or me and certainly not helpful to musical sheep.

A very BORING album,

This album is so boring. A friend recommended that I buy this. I bought it and couldn't get passed the second track. Every single song sounds exactly the same. The songs are so dull that i think they were all on sedatives when recording it.
