The papers in this volume are taken from a conference held in Tallahassee, Florida, USA, in May 1995, which aimed to critically assess the status of research in the areas of science in which magentics play an important role, as well as discussing new directions and applications in science. Areas covered in this work include semiconductors, the quantum Hall effect, heavy fermions, superconductivity, organic solids, chemical systems, and the generation and use of high magnetic fields in basic and applied research.
