About the Author

Roger E. Herman -- this book was written by a Strategic Business Futurist who concentrates on workforce and workplace trends. Through his research, Roger Herman is able to forecast the future with a high degree of accuracy. Often described as a visionary, he integrates a wide range of trend indicators to project change.

As a Certified Management Consultant, he applies his research and insight to help corporate leaders understand and prepare for the years ahead. While far-reaching and thought-provoking, his writing and speaking has a distinctly practical orientation that makes sense.

Herman balances the bottom line and the heart. He slips easily between right and left brain thinking. The result is a clear business orientation with a strong human flavor that reflects the evolution in the World of Work.

This futurist has his finger on the pulse of change, and he reports his findings in ways that everyone can understand and use. His experience as professional speaker has taught him how to communicate effectively. This book is a product of his experience. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Learned Not to Judge a Book by It's Cover, April 30, 2000
This review is from: The Process of Excelling: A Practical How-To Guide for Today's Leaders (Paperback)
Management is passé. Leadership is in. But how do supervisors lead? This book tells the story. Herman presents his twelve elements of excelling leadership in a way that's easy to understand and "get." I found the reading smooth and understandable, loaded with practical information. The author obviously has "been there;" his advice is real-world, not theory. I didn't like the cover at all. In fact, I almost didn't buy the book, because it looked like something out of the 50s. Boy am I glad I ignored my first impression! As soon as I started reading, it was so good, I completely forgot about the cover. I highly recommend this book for managers who want to be leaders and leaders who want to be better.
