You need a lens to shoot photos with this camera and when you choose it, it gives you the option to choose the lens you want. You also need some memory. I choose this combination: Canon EOS Rebel T3i 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera and DIGIC 4 Imaging with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens and Transcend 32 GB Class 10 SDHC Flash Memory Card (TS32GSDHC10E) and 4-Year Camera/Camcorder Accident Protection Plan ($500-600)

I think Canon only accepts US warranties, no out of country warranties. That's why the prices are materially different. I would avoid buying on Amazon unless the seller guarantees US warranty. You can also try B&H Photo online.

whether or not if the lens you have fit a t3i, I would definitely recommend t3i in your case. T3i comes with articulate LCD that would be awesome for live-view video recording. It's not too much relevant unless you print out big poster or something, but 18MP is nice compared to D3100. D3100 is a great entry camera, but Canon seems surpass the video functions.

I have to remove my battery from the camera to charge it. So the answer to your question would be "no". I have considered having 2 batteries so I will always have a fresh charged battery. Hope this hellps

Yes it does, and lots of instructions- still I recommend t3i for dummies.

Yes it can take HD videos as well (I'm assuming that's what you meant by "Video")

Hi, I own the T3i and I would never take pictures in black & white on it as you can post-process color to black & white but never vice versa. You can get awesome black & white photos if you use Silver Effect Pro as an add-on to Photoshop. You do this after you upload the photos from your camera to your computer. You can buy Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and Silver Effect Pro 2 for $75 & $175 respectively. Best of luck!
