I move to a 1000 sq ft apatment with almost all white tiles and it was so difficult to clean. I needed something and thought the Swiffer would help. Their wet pads just pushed dirt all over, left dirt lines and didn't even clean around the grout lines even though I went through the area first with the dry pads for dirt. I would go through ~10 wet pads to "clean" my floors plus I would then have to go over the entire floor with my mircofiber towels. That did the job so I thought if I can replace their pads with a microfiber pads, it might work so I went on Amazon and found a microfiber cleaning pad, Tersano cleaning cloths and they fit the Swiffer head snuggly, not the XL. It works!!! I don't have to continuously buy the chemical or dry pads to fill our landfills. The Tersano cloth pads are washable and because it thicker and absorbent, it cleans much better and doesn't deposit dirt in the floor grouts. The investment in the Tersano pads was ~$6.00 and the original Swiffer starter kit was ~$11; not bad considering a typical sponge mop is ~$18 and are horrible on tile. Buy the Swiffer but don't waste money or time with their wet or dry pads.

I love Swiffer Wet,
By The pet controversy is silly. I have two cats and have been using this product 2 to 3 times a week or more for more than a year. My cats are fine.

I just stopped by Amazon to buy some MORE Swiffer Mop refills and, after seeing the many negative reviews, I felt obliged to give my take on them, The first refill pack I had lasted nearly a year and the last Swiffer refill I used was as moist as the first (no problem with drying out as some mentioned, and I did not store in a separate container). I find the fragrance refreshing and it goes away shortly after drying. It's true this mop isn't for heavy-duty scrubbing, but I spot-clean any stuck-on messes before Swiffing. As long as you sweep before mopping (yes, I use a Swiffer Sweeper for that!), there will be no loose articles to push around the floor with the Swiffer Mop. The convenience of not having to wring or squeeze (like old-school mops) is their best feature. A bonus use for me: I have vaulted ceilings and use the Swiffer mop as a wall cleaner for the places that are out of my reach. My daughter swears by them, too, for her home so I am puzzled by the many negative reviews. The only reason I'm gving them 4 stars rather than 5 is because they don't provide complete scrub-power and that's the only thing keeping them from being perfect.

Perfect for fast clean-ups on hard-surface floors!,

First off, let me just say that these little Swiffer wet cloths ARE NOT intended to replace your occasional floor scrubbing with sponge and rubber gloves. What they ARE intended for are quick clean-ups of hard-surface floors when perfection is not the goal. (In case you DIDN'T already know, these are intended for use with the Swiffer Sweeper Complete Pack with Two Dry Sweeping Cloths & One Wet Mopping Cloth, which can be purchased here on amazon.com, quite cheaply.)Got company coming over unexpectedly? Hand the Swiffer and a box of these to your kids and have them wipe the floor down while you quickly figure out what sort of appetizers you can throw together. Are you a realtor showing a home? Run one of these over the floors when you leave to wipe off any tracked-in dirt and footprints on the hardwood floors. Are you a contractor who just finished up a project and can still see dust residue on the floor after you vacuumed the area? Run one of these over the floor to pick up the last of the dust. Are you in the military and need to have a clean barracks floor for daily inspections? These will do nicely for you. Have a cat that seems to always be tracking stuff out of the litterbox? You'll be using one of these every day in that area. These things are all about convenience - pure and simple. You don't NEED these things, but you're going to want them.

Great for small areas,

I was looking for a replacement mop and refills, and a clerk at my local grocery store recommended the swiffer kit that was on sale. It came with two dry cloths and a box of 12 wet cloths. At first I thought this is going to be a waste of money, but I actually like it. I have a small eat-in kitchen and a small bathroom both with linoleum floors and I became so tired of buying replacement fillers for the standard sponge mops and getting a bucket of water each time I wanted to mop. This is a nice replacement. No more getting water to mop!!! The wet cloths dry quickly once it hits the floor, but it does the job and I love the smell. I definitely recommend sweeping, (using the dry cloths prior to the wet cloths). The wet cloths will not pick up the excessive dirt, so sweeping first is essential.
I have only had it for 2 days but so far I like it. The disposable dry/wet cloths are great! just sweep and mop and its over. I probably would not have purchased this if I had a large kitchen or bathroom, not sure about that, but for anyone who has a small eat-in or not eat-in kitchen and small bathroom, this will work. P.S. I forgot to mention, we do not have a lot of traffic in our house (its just the husband and me, no pets) so thats another plus to using this product. I mop both bathroom and kitchen about once a week. If you have constant traffic and/or pets and are mopping several times or more a week, buying this product could be costly.

I really enjoy using the swiffer since it allows one to clean without kneeling on the floor. As for this refill item, it smells good. The wet wipes leave the floor cool, clean, and fresh smelling. I sorta wish that there was more cleaning solution in the wipes because I run out of "water" before I get to the other corner of my kitchen.

I have been using this product periodically for over a year. In my old apartment I would use it for my kitchen which was VERY small and it worked alright for that, but in my new house that has tile everywhere but the bedrooms it is almost useless. I will vacuum the floors first and then get out the wet pads. I cannot even do my kitchen without having to get another pad. It ends up just pushing any dirt left on the floor around. I have a hard time believing that after vacuuming there is too much dirt left on my floor that the swiffer should not be able to pick it up. I wouldn't even care if it took 2 or 3 pads to clean my living room and kitchen but the fact that it would take more like 4 or 5 to clean less 1,000 sq ft of floor is ridiculous! It ends up costing too much. The only reason I am giving it two stars is because it is easier than a mop. I would not suggest this product to anyone that needs to do some real cleaning.

The pacakage has a poor seal and the pads will dry out after a while. I ended up buying a storage containger for the pads and they should last much longer.

Bad scent!,

This product has a very strong scent that caused a horrible headache!!
I ignored it the first couple times, but it happened again & again. I had to open all the windows (Winter time!) for 3 hours and the smell was still there, the last headache lasted 2 days!I even called the company, she was nice but said no one complained before and everybody love the scent. I recommend that maybe she should have an "Unscented" product, she said she will relay to the company. |
