4.0 out of 5 stars Great fryer for the price!
Saw this deep fryer advertised and liked what all was said about it so I thought Id give it a try.

Pleased with my purchase. It was bigger than I expected and I love the cool touch feature. Easy to clean and well worth the price. Perfect for a family of two but if you have a large family you will probably want to go with a bigger size.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly designed fryer
I really don't understand how all these people gave it such a high rating. I bought it due to the high ratings but it really falls short.
Some of the shortcomings are:

No on/off switch - you have to unplug the fryer to turn it off

Not made to fry batter dipped foods. - It might be fine for fries and such but if you put a batter-dipped item...

5.0 out of 5 stars great product, great price, May 5, 2005
This review is from: Proctor Silex 35015 Cool-Touch 6-Cup Deep Fryer, White (Kitchen)
I have owned this for 6 months and I'm quite satisfied. Very easy to use and clean. I don't think the power cable is an issue since I don't move the fryer while it is frying. Also it is larger than it looks in the picture!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little deep-fat fryer. Shame about the magnetic cable!, March 25, 2005
This review is from: Proctor Silex 35015 Cool-Touch 6-Cup Deep Fryer, White (Kitchen)
At $29.99 you really cant go wrong. This was actually bigger than we thought it would be. It is quiet in operation and heats up quickly. It is sturdy and well made and the inner basket features smooth and safe mechinism to lower it and remove it from the hot fat. They advertise the "viewing window" as a feature but to be honest there is no way your going to see anything through it when its cooking as it will be steemed up and there is no light inside!

My one big concern about this though is the power-cable. Again it is sold as a special feature. To protect it from ever tipping over it has a power cable that attaches by magnets so that if it ever gets caught on anything it will break off and not tip boiling hot fat over your kids. This is a nice idea, however it really is literally just held on by magnets. And I mean "just" held on - they are not the strongest magnets so if you move the fryer at all during operation (fair enough it says you shouldnt -but hey sometimes you got to) the power cable sometimes comes off and you dont notice. My other concern abou this is when it comes off the connections on the cable are just right there, and as you are most likely using this in a kitchen where there could be liquids this is quite dangerous. So yes if your kids are messing with it they wont get scolded with boiling hot fat becuase the unit wont tip over but unfortunatley they may get electrocuted!!

Some of the shortcomings are:

Not made to fry batter dipped foods. - It might be fine for fries and such but if you put a batter-dipped item in it, it sticks to the wire basket, and you have to scrape it off with a knife after each batch. Yuck.

There is no spout to pour out the oil for cleaning. -It is a mess to clean!

Much better off with a pan on the stove.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's bigger than it looks, March 8, 2006
This review is from: Proctor Silex 35015 Cool-Touch 6-Cup Deep Fryer, White (Kitchen)
It is a lot bigger than it looks in the picture, and it feeds a family of 4 easily. It cooks raw food (like chicken) in 10-15 mins, and pre-cooked food in about 3-5 mins. For example, we cooked some of the Tyson buffalo wings from Sam's in 3 minutes; and it tasted great. It did not loose the sauce either. Definitely recommend this product. I just wish I could do something about the oil, when I was done...hmmm. The best part about this is that you drop the basket of food in the hot oil after closing the lid.

$29.99 you can't go wrong. Got it yesterday, used it last night works great. It is bigger then it looks and no trouble with the power cord. If the power-cord became unplugged the light would go off and I'm sure I would noice this. Very satisfied with this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars We like the fryer, February 26, 2006

I read customer reviews for this fryer and decided it would be a good fit for our usage. We fry about once or twice a month, mostly veggies and shrimp tempura. After using it several times, I'm wiser about the frying basket. It is not good to use it with tempura. All of the batter sticks to the basket, so you'll need to tear off the batter in order to remove the food from the basket after cooking. I'm just dropping the food directly into the vat from now on. Each shrimp turns out perfect!

I purchased this as a holiday gift for my spouse. It arrived promtly. The fryer is very easy to maintain and to operate. So far no problems and it seems to fit our needs perfectly. No problem at all with operation or accessories here!! I think it's a great fryer!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Be Careful, March 9, 2006

I was very excited with my purchase. Never having a deep fryer, I was looking forward to much enjoyment. Unfortunately, I put in too many chicken wings and it boiled over. It went down into the "works" of the fryer and we couldn't take the fryer apart to clean it. So ended up tossing it out as now it was a fire hazard. I realize it was my fault, but I don't think it is an uncommon mistake. If you're careful, the price is great and potential as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars I Love This Little Thing!, June 12, 2006

This review is from: Proctor Silex 35015 Cool-Touch 6-Cup Deep Fryer, White (Kitchen)
As a newbie to deep frying, I agonized for weeks over which would be best for my home. I gradually narrowed it down to this one and a $60 T-Fal. After reading the Amazon reviews, I chose this one: and I have yet to be dissapointed. I've had it for just about a month and I love it. It is ALOT bigger than it looks in the provided picture and it is great for a family of 2. Highly, highly recommended.
