5.0 out of 5 stars All the features for lost less moola
Just got this coffee pot to replace the Black and Decker Space Saver ( that machine was junk). Was delighted at the small size yet big features, carafe is easy to pour from and light weight to handle, not clumsy as some. The brew selection feature was new to me so the first pot was a little strong - dialed it down one notch and was perfect. I also wanted the programmable...

3.0 out of 5 stars not bad; poor design
We have the non-digital version of this machine, #48503. It makes good coffee (don't they all? They heat water and filter wet coffee grounds; how hard it that?) and has a permanent, washable filter. However don't try to get a replacement filter for it. Also the water feeds through a strange design head which is part of the lid. If the coffee is fine ground, the water...

5.0 out of 5 stars All the features for lost less moola, February 10, 2008
Just got this coffee pot to replace the Black and Decker Space Saver ( that machine was junk). Was delighted at the small size yet big features, carafe is easy to pour from and light weight to handle, not clumsy as some. The brew selection feature was new to me so the first pot was a little strong - dialed it down one notch and was perfect. I also wanted the programmable feature - it was very easy to set up, can't wait to find my coffee ready in the morning. I also wanted the pause to serve feature - which I am sure I will use tomorrow - and the auto shutoff in case I rush off to school and forget I left it on. I like the green light indicator showing you have set it for auto brew and the red light indicator telling you it is on. For the price this coffeemaker meets all my major requirements - I figured I didn't need a carafe to brew in as have on to pour the coffee that is left over in anyway and wanted the warming plate to keep the second cup warm before I dump the rest into carafe. Hope this helpful review - I have read literally hundreds over the weekend trying to decide and finally found what I think will work for me - to each his own. Since I love coffee I also orderd Gevalia membership and am getting a free coffeemaker from them in 4-6 weeks, so will compare the features, and give one away, or maybe take to work!

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm satisfied, May 18, 2010

Previous reviews were correct; It's a little difficult to fill with water. I don't like the digital display. Black numbers on a grey background are hard to read. But it makes good coffee and quickly. I don't use the permanent filter 'cause it can't absorb the oils in the coffee.

A good coffee maker for a low price. Just set coffee to be ready at a certain time and wake up to hot brew.

5.0 out of 5 stars dependable, March 16, 2011

This is my second one and the last I gave away because it was old and worn but it still worked perfect after six years. I wish Proctor Silex had more choices in their coffee makers and yes the time is quite hard to read but this machine goes forever and the coffee is great. Like the old Toyotas ugly but still running.

3.0 out of 5 stars not bad; poor design, February 9, 2011
This review is from: Proctor Silex Coffeemaker, Durable
We have the non-digital version of this machine, #48503. It makes good coffee (don't they all? They heat water and filter wet coffee grounds; how hard it that?) and has a permanent, washable filter. However don't try to get a replacement filter for it. Also the water feeds through a strange design head which is part of the lid. If the coffee is fine ground, the water won't drain fast enough, the head will get covered with grounds and when you lift the lid to dump the grounds/fill with water, these grounds will end up in the water reservoir. The head design also makes filling the reservoir very tricky since there's little space left to pour the water. Just a very dumb design! Finally, their idea of a "cup" is about 4 to 6 0z. You won't get 12 "cups" of coffee out of this or any other coffeemaker.

This is the second time I have been asked to review this purchase/product. The coffee maker arrived on time (Dec. 13th), and was in perfect condition. I am happy with the service.

1.0 out of 5 stars Weak coffee, beware, January 27, 2011
This review is from: Proctor Silex Coffeemaker, Durable
We've had this coffee maker for about a month, and it makes the weakest coffee ever. We have tried "bolder" blends, different filters, but from what I've read online, this machine just doesn't make the water hot enough. Not satisfied, especially since we've used every other brand at some point. We are going to splurge on a nice Cuisinart-- I don't know why this coffee maker has so many good reviews!
