Perfect for two!,

I've been making many meals for my husband and I in this slow cooker and it is just the right size. I was debating on whether to get a 3 quart or something smaller. I researched many of the 1-2 quart models and although many of the reviews raved about how those sizes were perfect for a couple, I am so glad that I got this one since I can't imagine making a meal for two in anything smaller. Plus, this leaves a little extra leftover for lunch the next day.

This is the first slow cooker I have ever purchased and ever used for that matter. I made some beans and kielbasa over the weekend and it worked perfectly. I was able to leave the beans sitting with the low setting all day with no burning or other problems. When cleaning everything, warm water and a soft sponge was all it took to clean the ceramic insert.
I do have one complaint with this cooker: it slides around too easily. The bottom of it has 4 nubs that are a part of the overall plastic body. Unfortunately, this plastic is very smooth and slides around. This is further worsened by the short yet very stiff power cord. In order to provide some safety I am going to need to find something to put beneath it to prevent it from sliding.

This 3-quart slow cooker is perfect when cooking for 2. You can get a great meal and another for left-overs or freezing. Low price but good quality crockpot......

A perfect gift for the single guy! So easy to put a meal together just before heading for work, and come home to a great dinner! In fact, I bought one for myself too, even though I am retired!

This slow cooker is very attractive and easy to clean. If you are cooking recipes that require low heat, however, this may not be for you. Slow cooking oatmeal is impossible -- it burns around the edges.

I love my 3 qt. crockpot! It's the perfect size for 3 to 4 people or 2 people plus leftovers, or 2 people with good appetites. In the 6 months that I've owned it, I've cooked steel-cut oatmeal, pasta sauce (from scratch) w/ meatballs, chile, pulled pork, pot roast, and hot apple cider all to perfection. Saves me lots of time in the morning and after work. Great value at under $20, and I love that it has a "keep warm" setting and removable crock.

It's only 2.5 quarts,

This crockpot works well enough, but the container only holds 2.5 quarts of water when filled to the brim.

I love this crock pot! A few years ago my husband bought me a 7 quart size. There's just the 2 of us and it's so big I could hardly lift it and washing was it a huge challenge. This 3 quart is easy to use, easy to lift and easy to wash. The only thing I regret is it's not quite big enough to do a roast with all the vegs on Sundays. So now I need to get a 4 quart and use the 3 quart for soups, stews, and desserts!

good size, inexpensive, bubbles out,

This is a great size for a meal for our family of 5, and was very cheap, so I'd say that we certainly got our money's worth out of this so far, but I have been having to keep an eye on it all the time to make sure it doesn't bubble out.
The crock and lid don't fit perfectly together creating a seal, so the liquid/steam inside "spit" out, and build up around the outside of the rim (rather than on the inside and running back down into the pot). It seems that the pressure of the heat build up inside the pot makes it hard for the liquid to go back into the pot so it stays on the outer edge, sometimes filling up so full that the rim literally boils over even though the inside contents are well below the rim level!! If I'm not home to keep an eye on the crock pot and move the lid around manually to release some of that water back into the pot I would probably have a big mess. I have tried to put a small piece of onion or aluminum foil on the rim (held in place by the lid) that drapes down into the pot and sometimes that works to lead the liquid back down inside, but if the contents are really bubbling away it doesn't seem to be helping. So, if you are willing to watch the pot then I'd say this is a good choice. Otherwise, find a pot with a lid that has a better rim that encourages the liquid back down inside. |
