I bought this bike because I'm too short to ride a scooter (my toes barely touch the ground on a scooter) and with the rising gas prices, I wanted to have a different mode of transportation to run all of my errands that are less than 4 or 5 miles away. I also found out with a scooter, I would need to get it titled w/registration and purchase insurance. Because this bike goes less than 20 mph, I don't need any of the extra paperwork/fees and my insurance covers the bike under our homeowner's policy.
Right out of the box, it looks like a folded jungle gym. It comes "completely" assembled although you do need to unfold it, close the clamps, and insert the seat. The seat didn't go in easily but with a little work and patience, it went in and the clamp closed. We followed all of the recommendations as far as adjusting the handlebars, brakes, and wheels. The wheels needed to be inflated a bit. The pedals come folded down and need to be flipped up and tapped (more like hit) into place. Once the pedals are in place, they are very stable.
This bike is perfect for my short stature. It states the minimum height is 5'3" but I'm 5'2" and my toes can touch the ground. Because the seat and handlebars are so easily adjusted, I'm extremely comfortable riding and I'm not leaning over with all of my upper body pressure on my hands.
The owner's manual is a bit cheap looking (black plastic binding like the ones our kids get from school for large book projects) but is very well written with photos and great descriptions for adjustments, care, and part replacement.
The seat is very cushy and has a cut out area in the middle for "parts" (read whatever you want to here). The suspension in the seat makes it even more comfortable. I had no problems with a sore backside even after a few long rides.
Brakes are a bit touchy and a very firm which makes it easy to stop the bike quickly (sometimes too quickly). This just takes some getting used to so it's not a big deal.
Battery charging time is only 3-4 hours. When I ride, I pedal on the flat roads, coast on the downhill roads, and use the throttle with some pedaling for uphill roads. The throttle does not kick in right away when you rotate it. You need to turn it a bit before the throttle kicks in but when it does, there isn't a kick or jerk. The motor is smooth and quiet. This isn't a bike you can get on and go "zoom" by any means. This is more of a pedal assist bike and it does a wonderful job helping me get through the hard parts of my ride.
One of three problems I've had is with the battery life. The specs state 25 mile range with pedaling. I get nowhere near that range. Even with a mix of 50/50 pedal/throttle, I only got 11 miles out of the battery (and hence, the four star instead of 5 star review). I will do a little more experimenting and edit my review if it's needed.
The second problem is very minor. The brake cable to the back wheel bows out so far, I clip it with my left heel when I pedal. The cable is stiff and won't bend much so I don't think I can push it in and secure it with a plastic fence tie. I'm going to call Prodeco customer service and ask what I can do to fix this.
The third problem (and again, not a huge deal) is the bike only has one gear. The wheels are smaller so the turning radius of the pedals is smaller than I'm used to. With no gears, you can't gain speed going down a hill (or your legs will be turning so fast, you'll look like a mouse in an exercise wheel). This isn't a major problem but I prefer a bike that has different gear speeds for different roads.
Overall, I'm very happy with this bike. It gives me a good amount of exercise with some "help" on the hills when I need it. The price was great and 12 months to pay it off (with Amazon credit), it was a great investment.
