Book Description

July 31, 2012
2011 Women of Faith Writing Contest Finalist!

For two returning prodigals will the challenge to live "good" withstand the allure to be bad?

After a nasty divorce, Bethany Davis returned to college and lived up to the low standards set by gossips. Her dad's stroke has now brought her home, and Bethany finds herself in a dilemma--how can she get beyond her past, learn to trust again, and live a "good" life?

Bethany's father's involvement in the defense industry adds excitement to her expectation of a boring life back home. However, bodyguards, stalkers, and international secrets are the least of her problems--opening her heart to trust again is a totally different matter. And the mutual attraction with her new team leader, Jason Ross, spells the possibility of big-time heart trouble.

Jason's days of wild living are over, and he's determined to prove to himself and God that he's on the right path. When Bethany steps into his office, he sees the girl of his dreams, but is she God's gift or Satan's temptress?

More About the Author

About Lisa Buffaloe:

I'm a joyfully in love with God, Christ follower. I'm also a writer, speaker, radio host for Living Joyfully Free Radio, and a happily married mom of a son in college. I'm not a perfect wife, perfect mother, or perfect at anything. I keep a fairly clean house, cook semi-decent meals, and love to write. I'm a real life woman with real life problems. I've made stupid mistakes, sinful mistakes, and often traveled down the wrong roads. God never gave up on me, never let go, and He welcomed me home when I stumbled back seeking His grace.

Winner of the Robin Award -- 2013 Idahope Christian Writers, Writer of the Year. I am the author of Living Joyfully Free Devotional, Nadia's Hope (2010 Women of Faith Writing Contest Finalist, and 2010 Runner-up in the ACFW Genesis contest), Prodigal Nights (2011 Women of Faith Writing Contest Finalist), and Grace for the Char-Baked.

My past experiences--molestation by a baby-sitter, assault, rape by a doctor, divorce, being stalked, cancer, death of loved ones, seven surgeries, and eleven years of chronic illness from Lyme Disease--have blessed me with a backdrop to share God's amazing promises. God's love is unending, and through Him we find healing, restoration, and renewal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic pleaser August 19, 2012
By LynneG
Format:Paperback
Threads of forgiveness and unconditional love are expertly woven through this fun romantic read. The spunky, quick-witted heroine raised in privilege is a perfect contrast to the big-hearted, down-to-earth, good guy hero. When family tragedy forces Bethany's return home she is also forced to confront her past. Her father's involvement in the defense contract industry adds just the right amount of suspense. Looking forward to more from Lisa Buffaloe.

5.0 out of 5 stars NOT a Cure for Insomnia August 25, 2012
By Teri
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book was the wrong choice to read the week I was trying to work myself back into my school- year sleep pattern. There just never seemed to be a good stopping point. While this book is a clever romance with many suspenseful moments, what I like best about it is that the important points about Christian faith are not described or preached about, but clearly demonstrated through story events and the actions of the characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prodigal Nights September 7, 2012
Format:Paperback
Bethany Davis returns home after being gone for a couple of years as she is needed at home to help care for her dad. Is there more to this? The relationship she had had with her parents wasn't as close as she would have liked, and her past haunts her dreams. Coming home after her divorce her fear of being the brunt of gossip is realized. Bethany knows no one knew what she went through. She isn't sure she can trust anyone. The past of Bethany Davis is littered with all sorts of trash and she wants to leave it there. Yet, how can she move forward with her life without God?
Charles Davis owned his own company that had contracts with the United States Defense Department. He had security guards around all the time. Only one of his three children knew they also had assigned guards and security. Bethany will later find out how much her dad loved her though he rarely showed it. Elena Davis loves to cook and entertain those who her husband knows from business, church, and family. Elena's mom passed away a couple of years ago, and her father was in a nursing home with his mind slipping away. This was really hard for Bethany. He called her by his wife's name and asked her to dance, but he didn't know it was his granddaughter he danced with. Now with him gone, who would dance with Bethany and why would they when she feels so tainted?
Jason has a littered past too, but has turned his life over to God. He spends lots of time with his sister and her kids since her husband is serving overseas. They are close and part of the reason for that is due to the fact their parents were killed in a car accident when they were both still very young. Now he is wondering if has finally met the woman of his dreams, but he wants to be a man of honor and is tempted by women who don't care that he has changed. The internal battle he struggles with between giving into the flesh and being a man of God is at times unbearable. Will any woman want him if he can't be a man who loves, honors, and respects a woman?
At an architectural firm, Jason is the team leader responsible for being professional and making sure projects are done on time. Alex, Nicole, Rhonda, and others are part of his team with Bethany being the newest. Some of the staff is Christian and some aren't. The atmosphere at work is generally one of professionalism and friendship. Now that Bethany is living away from home, there seems to be someone bent on bringing her harm. There has also been a break-in at her parent's mansion. Why? Does the map that Brad, her brother, has have something to do with it? Are the threats coming from one source or many? What are the reasons?
In this wonderful work of fiction, we see where living the Christian life is hard whether in the work place, at home, or in church. Lisa does a wonderful job of showing the battle that goes on with those who are Christian and work hard to walk humbly with Him in all areas of life. She points us to the truth of His love, mercy, and grace as well as how God uses people to help us not stray from the path he has placed us on. She shows how we can return to Him through repentance. We can know without a doubt that He forgives us, loves us, and will never forsake us. Prodigal Nights is the first novel by this author I have read, and she has a new follower for sure!
My rating is 5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars good read
liked it but a little too much "two ships passing in the night". The lead characters assumed the wrong things about each other a little too much. Loved the ending
