This review is from: The Prodigal Nun: A Sister Agatha Mystery (Sister Agatha Mysteries) (Hardcover)
I have read all the Sister Agnes books so far, but they are not up to the quality of Thurlo's (written with her husband) Ella Chah series. These are written on a middle school level and are "sweet" rather than realistic. Much background on the Catholic church is interesting, but is repeated in book after book.

The Thurlos have created an endearing character and the Sister Agatha series is fun to read. while not heady literature, the pace is good, the plot logical and the scenic descriptions are just fine. I have been reading a lot of books with nuns as central characters and this series is by far one of the very best. i look forward to reading more installments of this series.

Love this series. The writers are entertaining and logical. There is no second guessing their books.

Death of a parishioner,
By
This review is from: The Prodigal Nun: A Sister Agatha Mystery (Sister Agatha Mysteries) (Hardcover)
Sister Agatha, of Our Lady of Hope Monastery, is an extern nun who takes care of dealing with the outside world in matters relating to the convent. Having been a journalist in her previous life, she maintains a lively curiosity about mysterious things that happen at Our Lady of Hope. When Jane Sanchez, an active parishioner, dies on the convent grounds Sister Agatha feels guilty since Jane had requested a visit with her before she died. She pursues her own investigation, sometimes frustrating her old friend Sheriff Tom Green. This series is filled with gentle humor, such as calling the aged convent vehicle the "AntiChrysler", and its usual cast of characters are more fully developed as the series continues.

Great mystery that puts the nuns in danger. Anything at this convent is exciting. She again puts a mystical experience with her book. The mystery and mystical are partnered beautifully. The authors make the nuns very human and approachable and realistic.

This is an excellent book if you like the series. It's an easy hard back book to hold and large enough fonts.
