Can Samantha Edwards Trust Jack Hanson?,
By
This review is from: Prodigal Son : Family Business (Silhouette Special Edition No. 1729) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms Mallery has written the first in a continuity *Family Business* for Silhouette Special Edition each month for the next 5 months we'll meet one of the Hanson family through a different author.
This month we meet Jack Hanson, the heir apparent, but he didn't want to be in the family business. He agreed to get his MBA and go to law school then he could pick which he wanted to do. He picked law and his father was very unhappy! It's 10 years later and Jack is a very successful criminal lawyer in Chicago. His father dies and Jack is the CEO by default of the Hanson Media Group. He has taken a 3 month leave of absence from his law firm to keep the company going until the board can find a replacement. Jack has decided that he will take the company into the computer age. He hires his partner from grad school, they helped each other get that MBA, Samantha Edwards to create a wonderful new website. Samantha and Jack have a little history that neither can forget but in the last 10 years each has been hurt in their relationships--he an engagement and she a marriage. This book is their story of overcoming those other relationships and creating a wonderful life for themselves and Jack's border collie Charlie-who makes me want to have a dog again.

Prodigal Son by Susan Mallory
Silhouette Special Edition # 1729 - January 2006 Family Business - Book # 1 Jack had had bitter words with his father when he refused to be a part of Hanson Media and pursued the law instead. When his father dies, Jack is needed to step in to see if the company can be turned around from it's downward spiral. One area of media that Hanson's had avoided was the internet, so Jack hires his old college friend Samantha giving her complete creative control. Jack has always been attracted to Sam, but years ago he'd thought she didn't return that feeling. Now working closely together, they enjoy getting to know one another again, and a no-strings-affair works for both. When Sam confides in Jack about her past disastrous marriage, she's hurt to find Jack not as understanding as she expected, so she backs away from their affair. But when the company's new web empire is sabotaged and hijacked, Sam and Jack have to work hard together to find the truth, before it brings the whole company to ruin. There really isn't anything remarkable about this story. Jack and Sam's romance does develop with only a few rocky spots. Sam's past is really the only conflict in their way. None the less, this was well written and very enjoyable. And it set the stage nicely for the books that follow. Prodigal Son by Susan Mallery - SSE-1729 - February 2006 The Boss and Miss Baxter by Wendy Warren - SSE-1737- March 2006 The Baby Deal by Victoria Pade - SSE-1742 - April 2006 Falling for the Boss by Elizabeth Harbison - SSE-1747 - May 2006 Her Best Kept Secret by Brenda Harlen - SSE-1756 - June 2006 Mergers and Matrimony by Allison Leigh - SSE-1761 - July 2006
