This is one the finest piano trio albums I have ever heard. Bobby Enriquez was a consummate entertainer, reminiscent of a cross between Art Tatum and Errol Garner. I cannot imagine how he could have been so overlooked by the jazz community. Sad to say, but I believe it may have possibly been due to a kind of subtle elitism/ racism against Filipinos as jazz musicians. From a technical standpoint, this album beautifully demonstrates Enriquez's innate ability to weave together classical and bebop figures seamlessly, and to do so in combination with a wide range of dynamics. It is from a musical standpoint, however, that this album of standards really shines. Enriquez's flawless technique never overshadows the music and the sheer joy that emanates from those 88 keys. Man, this guy could swing!

I came to know the sounds of Mr. Bobby Enriquez in the 80's..in fact I bought all his LP's and CD's too.He is really a master ivory magician stroking the keyboards flawlessly.I watch one of his live Manila concert,because of his tremendous versatility ,he almost always breaks one or two pianos,mostly the strings and keyboard,that's why before he performs,he has a spare piano.Too bad he passed away..he left behind a legacy of a good jazz pianist...and a FILIPINO Too, next to Lea Salonga of Miss Saigon fame.I hope Cresendo Records would revive all his LP recordings to the CD format...although this is not the original "Prodigious Piano" Album.FIVE STARS FOR BOBBY ENRIQUEZ!!
