This guide supersedes the former AFTRS "bible" on video production - "Guide To Video Production". Entirely redesigned and rewritten in an easy and accessible format, this book includes chapters on nonlinear editing, satellite transmission of video and digital audio postproduction, in addition to all the essential material on video camera operation, scriptwriting, composition, the location shoot, budgeting, preproduction planning, multicam studio production, lighting and sound recording, interview techniques, safety on the set...everything a student of video needs. Throughout the book are tips from leading video teachers. Comprehensively illustrated with hundreds of photographs and drawings, the book is intended to become the standard text in video training for students and enthusiasts alike and a resource for community television producers, from beginners to the accomplished.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent learning and reference tool, December 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Producing Videos is well written and informative. This book answers a lot of questions and uncertainies about a HOT studio and many pre production concerns as well as just about everything else.I found a copy in my local library intially, and simply had to buy a copy for myself. It will be a ongoing reference tool.

My only gripe is that in certain passages of the book, the tone of instruction, while attempting to be informal treats the reader as a third grader. But to be fair, there are contributions from a wide range of professionals in the video and film industry and each have their own way of getting their message across to you.
In short...
Very comprehensive and covers a lot of ground.
Input by professionals in their field along with their current thinking and trends in the industry.
Easy and readable manner of imparting knowlege to the reader.
Excellent up to date reference.
