Planning, from global to very detailed,
This review is from: Production and Inventory Management (Hardcover)
In 7 large steps the writers show the reader the basics of production planning. Master planning, inventory management, MRP, capacity management, production activity control, JIT and the theory of constraints are explained, not only as basic statements, but also including some standard calculation approaches. 1991, the first production computer systems were introduced, but this book stays at the basic. What to do if the current ERP-systems fail and the millennium bug strikes again? Step-by-step, with a calculator in the hand.

This book, while a bit old, still covers the basic fundamentals of inventory management very well. I would recommend it highly to anyone who is studying for their CPIM certification.

I purchased a gently used copy to help me study for the 4th APICS CPIM test, Execution & Control of Operations (ECO). I have the APICS course manuals, but I also do a fair amount of supplemental reading, and this is the most useful book I've read in preparing for the exams. It covers about half the ECO test, and it offers the right depth of information. Not too many formulas (which is fine for ECO), but no glossing over key topics either. I passed with room to spare.

I bought this book after using the previous edition that I got from a library. Whereas, older edition was very concise and had a flow the new one attempts to throw much more scientific mumble jumbo that one has to go through to find what one is looking for. The text is within itself not bad for students taking Supply management classes, but not for working professionals. I wish I have gotten the previous edition instead.

Very disappointed that it has been 4 weeks and I have still not received the book. After two e-mails one answered stating the book was on the way via U.S. Postal service and the second one was never answered.
