4.0 out of 5 stars Great protection, but...
I purchased this armor for my Nikon D300 and, as advertised, it protects from bumps and dings. It adds a bit of heft to the camera, and I really like the extra grip it provides. It comes in 3 pieces: a single-piece glove that easily slips over the camera body; a cheesy lens "hood" that won't fit any of my lenses; and a bottom section that not only won't work with a...

Chances are you will either love Camera Armor or hate it. The style for the D300 does not provide quite the protection as the D200 model, but this is necessitated by the camera design. Chances are you will either love Camera Armor or hate it. The style for the D300 does not provide quite the protection as the D200 model, but this is necessitated by the camera design. There are a couple of frustrating aspects; the rubber covers the mode setting in the digital display, making it awkward to see the current setting. The "flap" on the bottom of the camera can cause problems (covered by other reviewers), but so far I have not had a problem with it. I personally like the Camera Armor in general for two reasons: first, because I have relatively big hands, and the added thickness and non-slip aspect of the rubber makes for a positive grip; and second, because most of my shooting is done outdoors and it does absorb a lot of bumps that would otherwise scratch and potentially damage the camera. The lens hood can be awkward, and be advised that if fully extended it will vignette the photo at wide angle settings (just remember to collapse it at those settings). It does, however, provide a lot of protection for long lenses that tend to whack solid objects. If your photography is done indoors or under gentle conditions, Camera Armor is just a frustration. If you're out in the weather or tend to bang your camera a lot, Camera Armor does provide a good degree of protection for expensive SLRs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Its Different than what you see on the photo, February 24, 2009

And its worst than expected I must say. I have removed the Armour soon after I have installed it. I just couldn't see what protection or benefit i would get out of it. The vital parts of the camera are still exposed and unprotected and it just makes it bulkier and unnecessary to put. Although the price is more reasonable now, I got mine for about $50!

2.0 out of 5 stars Fair but not perfect, February 20, 2009
This review is from: MADE Products CA-1130-BLK Camera Armor for Nikon D300 Digital SLR (Black) (Electronics)
so I waited for the camera armor to be in stock for the Nikon D300 forquite some time. I can honestly say I am not impressed with this product and actually do not use. For me the fit on the camera was not that great and overall look and feel was just average. It does make some of the function buttons on the front of the camera hard to access. I do think it would do a decent job of protecting the camera against impact so I might use it if I go hiking....then again maybe not. Others may like the look and feel but I for one was not impressed.

I purchased this armor for my Nikon D300 and, as advertised, it protects from bumps and dings. It adds a bit of heft to the camera, and I really like the extra grip it provides. It comes in 3 pieces: a single-piece glove that easily slips over the camera body; a cheesy lens "hood" that won't fit any of my lenses; and a bottom section that not only won't work with a mounting plate, it can't be securely attached -- a design flaw that needs improving. The company has been sold -- perhaps the new owner will address shortcomings. I awarded 4 stars due to rounding up from a deserved 3.5-star rating.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fits fine, works well, January 15, 2009

I was hesitant about the D300 MADE Products CA-1130-BLK Camera Armor for Nikon D300 Digital SLR (Black) after reading other reviews about fit and appearance. But, I found mine fits well and makes the camera much easier to grip. It does not look bad at all. I really like the way the bottom removes for tripod or accessory attachment. I got one for the D80 also and it does not have a bottom at all.

I am only using the body shield without the front part for the lens or the bottom part that covers the battery area. It's very useful and I keep it on my d300s all the time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, August 1, 2009

Fast delivery and received as described. The item did not fit as well as I expected, particularly around the top control panel display window. It made reading the info at the extreme left of screen almost impossible to read without pushing the cover aside. Another problem for me was the tripod socket. The thicknes of the bottom material made it very difficult to line up and get the tripod screw started. Changing the battery was awkward. The bottom piece was made to fold back to access the battery compartment, but without fail the piece would fall off. I found the rubber latch for the bottom piece very deifficult to latch. I can see where this part would break before too long with all the stretching needed to latch it. The sung fit around the built in flash would keep the flash from poping up without some help. You may be able to trim the rubber and solve this. The item was well made, durable and except for the items mentioned fit well. I finally removed it because it hindered me too much.

This product does not fit the D300 properly and makes the camera look awful. I would not recommend it to anyone.
