I have had a Prodyne marble cheese slicer since about 1996 and it is the best cheese slicer ever. Mine is still on its original wire. (I am going to order a new wire soon, though, because it's getting a little stretched out). Much safer than using a knife on a hard block of cheese, and I get very consistent slices, no matter how thin. This is one of my favorite and most-used kitchen gadgets. Highly recommended!

I've owned a prodyne cheese slicer for 36 years. I was delighted to find that the company is still manufacturing this product. I bought one for each of my three daughters. They were thrilled to own something that they remember from their childhood.

The cheese cutter is just OK. The cutting wire is too long and therefore wafors when cutting--it should be shorter and tighter.

The Prodyne cheese slicer is fine. However, the RSVP brand of replacement wires are not for this Prodyne slicer even though they are shown as an option to purchase with it here at Amazon. The RSVP wires are too short. I had to return mine. See the Prodyne website for purchase of replacement wires for the Prodyne slicer.

The wire is to long. Will not cut all the way through. Other than that it's a good unit. A little heavy, but being it is granite, you would expect it to be heavy, Because of the wire I would not purchase this item again.

Before, I had a little wooden one, so it's taking some getting used to. Especially judging the thickness of the slices. However, it's better than the wooden one, easier to clean, and the same size. I would buy it again.

This slicer is wonderful, easy to use, easy to clean. The cheese comes out even and as thin as we want every time.

We've had a Prodyne cheese slicer for over 25 years. We've never changed the wire, and it continues to perform well under heavy use. The consistency in size of slices, and the ability to cut them quite thin are among it's attributes. The quality of the marble and finishing is nice and not rough as compared to others making it easier to clean. The handle is sturdy and not wobbly as I've seen in similar products. Although one person commented on the wire being too long, that can be easily adjusted: see instructions. I've purchased other makes of marble cheese slicers as gifts and ended up taking them back. None compared with the Prodyne. I've just purchased a couple for gifts for friends who loved ours.

My order was shipped twice due to size being advertised incorrectly. I reported size error 2 times. I told Amazon I would keep the second one but that the size needs to be fixed. Ordered in May 2011 and the size still show 11 x 8.2 - BE AWARE, YOU WILL RECEIVE A 5.5 X 8.2 instead. Shocked this issue didn't appear on any other reviews.

Tell me this isn't your favorite utensil. It is just like grandma's house where we have a cheese slicer on the table every time for breakfast. Plus since it is green marble it is just exquisite. I am so happy every time I take out my cheese slicer and slice cheese. It is like heaven.
