Amazon.com

You'll have no problem getting your recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables with this attractive beechwood fruit and veggie hammock sitting on your countertop. The open-weave net is suspended from the ends of the beechwood "bowl" exactly like a regular hammock. The open-air design keeps fragile fruit from getting crushed or bruised, and helps food ripen more evenly. This hammock is large enough to hold your whole week's supply of produce and makes an attractive centerpiece on the kitchen table. The net can be hand washed; wipe wood with a damp cloth. --Doree Armstrong

Product Description

Suspended fruit rests easy and stays fresh longer in the Fruit and Veggie Hammock. Soft, open weave, fully suspended net gently supports fruit, resists crushing and bruising and soft spots. Attractive natural beech wood stand holds high-capacity nylon net hammock to create an appealing centerpiece.

The fruit did great in the basket and I really loved it until one day I put new fruit in it and it broke and came unraveled and my fruit went flying. Lasted less then a year.

Once I contacted the people I bought it from they did however replace the mesh part at no cost to me.

So just a few months later since i wrote the above and got my mesh replacement, it unraveled again! I tried my best to hot glue it back together, functions again but doesn't look the same anymore.

Great idea. I was excited how cool it was. The next morning I discovered my fruit on the ground. The basket broke in less than 12 hours! Really???????

Prodyne FH-300 the FIRST name in banana hammocks. I admit, initially I was skeptical. It didn't have the same look as many competitors models in extensive google image searching....but Amazon delivered! Low hanging fruit are now a problem of the past! My entire basket of goods is now visible for all. Now I know what you're thinking, and I too was nervous the net would lead to possible scoring problems, but FORGET about it! With this scoring isn't even a problem! And the compliments? Where do I begin?! The grooves have taken my enjoyment to another level! But alas, there is one notable flaw, and the reason I regretfully had to give it 4 stars instead of 5. I keep getting splinters in my thighs.

I found the design and functionality of this quite nice, but I rapidly discovered that this banana hammock could not comfortably fit my produce. I've kept using it to store walnuts and pecans however.

I bought this product 3 years ago for use on a sailboat. One end unraveled within a couple of months but I just re-tied it and it's held ever since - and we REALLY load it with fruit and veggies when we travel! I like it so much I'm buying another one for our new boat.

I purchased this Prodyne FH-300 Beechwood fruit and veggie hammock and put it together. One of the support pieces immediately split along the grain of the wood. Gluing it back together didn't work because of the stress on that part of the support. Very disappointing! I bought it at a grocery store. Returning it wasn't an option.

This is my first banana hammock. I like that you can see right through the mesh to my ripening fruit within, but it's much larger than any realistically-sized bunch. It's so large that with a normal-sized load, (a bunch,) it hangs down or bulges in the middle, almost to the countertop. I am using the hooks without the 'lengthening rope' to hold it all up, and the distance between the hooks (you can't adjust) is too short, or there's too much material in the mesh. Instead of my fruit looking like it's taking a siesta, it looks like it's struggling to escape through the bottom of the mesh. The mesh is glued to the end-bars, which makes it look really cheap when you've got your face real close to the banana hammock. Still, I will rate this three stars because I have nothing to compare it to. The quality doesn't look like it's worth the money I paid for it, but it does a decent job and I even got complimented on my banana hammock by the first person who saw it. When it's filled up, it's quite a head-turner.
