4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but their latest LP "Stab Wounds" is 100 times better, September 2, 2004

This review is from: Profane Genocidal Creations (Audio CD)
Buy Dark Fortress "Stab Wounds" first as I declare it to be the black metal album of 2004! On second thought, the best black metal album in the last few years! Amazon doesn't have a section as of this writing for their album "Stab Wounds." I would describe the new Dark Fortress sound like this...take the best elements of Satyricon, Dissection, Mactatus, and older Immortal, with just a touch of "Anthems..." era Emperor, but Dark Fortress sounds like Dark Fortress and while I'm not really reviewing
"Profane Genocidal Creations," there is not much point as their latest "Stab Wounds" makes anything they did earlier as insignificant. The vocals are unique and wicked, the production is stellar. I'm not much for sound bytes but there is one song that has great ones from Charles Manson, "I don't need to kill anyone! I think it!" or "If I started murdering people, there'd be none of ya left!" Dark Fortress is the new elite of Black Metal! Look for their album "Stab Wounds," it is beautifully evil, engaging, and malevolent. Buy or forever listen to 2nd rate crap!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Underrated Black Metal Group!, April 21, 2004

Any metal fan that has not heard this band should find anyway to get their hands on this album. You are missing out on a very overlooked Black Metal group. This is a perfect Melodic Black Metal Epic. Yes, it does have the standard keyboards and all basics of the newer Black Metal sound, but it's done at a very high level and is not over produced. Dark Fortress are excellent musicians and have more creativity than most of the better-known bands. All the songs stand out and don't sound the same. The breaks are perfect and the changes of pace from slow to blistering fast are smooth. This album over all is as dark and cold as it gets. The vocals are just sick! The lead man sounds just like an Evil Demon. As you can tell, I really enjoy this group and album. I love when a BM album captures my attention like this! This comes from an experienced Metal Head. Check it out!

I love this band, they keep getting better with each album and Profane Genocidal Creations is a testament to that. Once again the riffs are amazing, the vocals are excellent, the blast beats/drums are awesome and the songs are great. I hope this band keeps releasing albums this good.
