Customer Reviews

The crank handle is made of cheap plastic... I can see this breaking off easily.

The panning and tilting are functional but not as smooth as you would want for video.

Update 14 Months Later: I'm still happy with mine, which I use with a still camera, but is probably fine for typical non-pro video use. The tripod shown (12-18-11) is probably the same but, for the record, mine has the Polaroid brand on it and is all black. Original review: For the money, I wasn't expecting too much. Bought it because of the reviews. I can confirm it is sturdy -- I use a 2 sec. shutter delay (no cable release) to eliminate any slight wobble from pressing the shutter button. ...Might be a tad heavy for many people to carry around all day -- but that's what makes it so gosh darn sturdy. And, if you usually go to one or just a few locations, this is a great tripod to use. BTW. 72" is above my head, but I just know that will come in handy on occasion. Even as a pro, in many situations, you'd probably be just fine with this. BTW2 -- It's made by Polaroid. And, it comes with a handy dandy handle and case. 'nuff said? BTW3 -- This IS a photo or video tripod -- it tilts for vertical stills.

I agree with so many other reviewers that this is an amazing price for such a strong, sturdy tripod. It's VERY easy to set up and I've NEVER set up a tripod before. It came completely assembled out of the box. I read one review that said you couldn't pan the camera. That is INcorrect. It does pan up and down (turn the handle to raise/lower it smoothly) and it also pans left to right using the handle- you just have to loosen the know that holds it stationary. If you loosen it slightly, it still stays where you place it but allows you to move it slowly left-right. It's very easy to adjust the height. You adjust the legs to a height you like and can adjust them using the level on the tripod. THEN you can adjust it up and down an additional ~12-18" with the twist of the handle. Even attaching the camera/camcorder is simple. The mounting plate is removable, line up the camera and then turn the little screw head underneath to mount it securely to the plate. Then simply re-attach the plate to the stand. Simple!

Honestly, I can't think of ANYTHING I would add to this tripod to make it better. It even comes with it's own canvas carrying bag and several lens cleaning clothes (check the bottom of the shipping box because I almost missed them).

Be aware that the shipping cost is almost equal to the cost of the tripod itself BUT it weighs ~7 lbs so I believe $~12 shipping is a great deal... especially since mine arrived only 2 1/2 days after I placed the order in early Dec. The estimated delivery date was Dec 14th and it arrived Dec. 8th! Even at ~$26-27 including shipping, it's STILL cheaper than most other shorter tripods.

I searched the internet for a tripod for a fare price with quality. I read all the reviews for many tripods and this one had great reviews. I know why. Comes fully assembled and can set it up in under one minute or less. Very light weight but strong. Can easly turn the mount to move from planet to another. I use it with a large view telescope and it is such a bargin compaired to the telescope tripods that are priced in the hundreds. You can't go wrong with this tripod.

The height of this tripod is 72" BEFORE you crank up the center post. I would dare say this think can go up to 10' tall. The bag is made quite well with a nice zipper which was a big thing for me since I plan on packing this on my ATV where dust is always present. Also it comes with 2 of the top clips for cameras to mount to which I was very impressed with. Another surprise was the nice lens cleaner rag, why they would put this in with a tripod is beyond me but I liked it!
For the price I think this is an excellent tripod that I would highly recommend.

This is a great tripod, especially for the price. It has two levels, one on the base and one on the head. Also two plates so you can leave them on your camera if you have more than one. This tripod is light to carry, but very sturdy when set up. Since it is lightweight, as expected, the legs don't have weight to them so you need to manually pull out the leg when you want to adjust. That isn't an issue for me, but I know from using professional models that sometimes the leg dropping on its own when you release the lock is handy. Once the camera was in place it was locked well. I used it for video and will admit to be a bit lax in removing the camera when moving the tripod. I pretty much just carried them attached. I would recommend this (and have!) to others.

I'm happy with this tripod. It is perfect. It was my first time purchasing a tripod and it took me about 30 minutes to figure out how to set it up. Honestly it can be a bit confusing. This tripod by Polaroid did not come with setup instructions in the box whatsoever. If you're a newbie you either have to figure it out or get someone experienced to help you out. Other than that, I am happy with the portability, the height and the rest of its functions! It seems like it will be durable and worth the money, which wasn't much!

Did not expect my tripod till after Christmas and it got here in one and a half days after ordering, a day before Christmas.

The tripod is great, much better then I thought for the money I spent. Well built and will handle any camera or video camera. I works smooth and the handle built into the tripod is an extra bonus. I'm sure glad I picked this one.
