About the Author

Valerie Hausladen is an Austin-based author, speaker and consultant. She is also president and founder of Edge Leadership Group, an untraditional management consulting team based in Austin and servicing clients nationwide. During a successful career in marketing with Fortune 100 companies, Valerie became fascinated by the contrast between those who were truly fulfilled by their work and those who endured it for the paycheck. Having discovered her own Professional Destiny, she is passionate about helping others find theirs. Valerie is a graduate of Stanford University and has recently served on the Board of Directors for the Miracle Foundation, American Red Cross and the marketing committee for the People's Community Clinic. She is the mother of two daughters, Stephanie and Allie, each of whom has been an inspiration for the concept of this book.

Valerie Hausladen is a nationally-recognized author, speaker and coach in the field of personal and professional motivation and empowerment. Her first book, Professional Destiny--Discover the Career You Were Born For, was nominated for the 2009 ForeWord Book of the Year Award and launched her as a bestselling author.

Before starting her own company, Edge Leadership Group headquartered in Austin, Texas, Valerie served as President and Managing Director for two international advertising agencies and as marketing executive for a global Fortune 100 company.

Valerie's interactions with a vast range of professionals made the Stanford University graduate curious about those who were motivated and uniquely energized by their work. After years of first-hand observation, she wrote Professional Destiny, as an inspirational but practical guide to help others "discover the career they were born for."

Life is full of changes. We all know that. This book embraces those changes and offers readers a way to really grasp them and make the best of the potential changes using thought processes that are really accurate. Think you're alone in trying to map out your destiny? Not so, especially in this book, when the examples of life stories of people who have transformed their lives are found here in this book to absorb. This book is accessible enough to sit down and read it all at once on an international plane flight, or the perfect Sunday. Yet, if you are like me, you'll highlight passages, make notes in the margin and dog ear pages to read and re-read. It's that good. This the most exciting self help book, told with professionally motivating stories, that I've seen in a long time. Every worker in every office should be required to read this.

This is a great book. I strongly recommend Professional Destiny by Valerie Hausladen to anyone who is facing a change in their life or wants to make one! The author is insightful and motivational. This is a clear and well written book with a step by step approach to success that is fun to read. She includes all the aspects that are necessary to help and motivate both pratically and psychologically. This is a must have book, buy it as a gift for yourself or anyone else who is in transition!

The "Killer Combo" theory drastically changed my way of thinking. The simple shift it allowed has freed me from limiting thoughts, perspectives and actions. It is my go-to "thought net" when the proverbial fork shows itself along the road I've always known I was intended to traverse.
