Showcases the Best in the Business,
By
This review is from: Professional Portrait Posing: Techniques and Images from Master Photographers (Pro Photo Workshop) (Paperback)
This is an excellent book that showcases the work of some of the finest portrait photographers in the business. The work of Monte Zucker, Chris Nelson and Tim Kelly is just amazing. ANY photographer can learn from their expertise. This book cuts out much of the 'fluff' in other photography books and just gives you the 'meat'. It is well written and well presented.

Another one of those books...,

This review is from: Professional Portrait Posing: Techniques and Images from Master Photographers (Pro Photo Workshop) (Paperback)
Just read this book and this is one of those books I was hesistant on buying. I had a feeling this book is not good enough for those who are already in the business of photography and people learning photography. First of all, this book is written by an author about other awesome, pro photographers... so what do you get? Quotes and tips from the photographers, that's it. Will the tips and quotes help, an amateur photographer? If you are an amateur: who want to start a business in photography, ex senior portrait, an amateur who wants to learn how to pose a model for a fashion shoot, a paid shoot to shoot a pregnant person, setup a basic lighting for a casual shoot, do a Monte Zucker poses, and so on.... the answer will be NO. If you're a photographer already doing a senior portrait, shooting fasion/models, .... and so on will this book help? NO. This book is more for browsing while you're dringking coffee at borders book store and thought the cover looks nice and the title is catchy.I think it will best if you look up the authors in this book and see if they have their own books and instead buy their books. At least their book will go more into detail. Example, I ordered some of Monte Zucker's posing techniques from his website and the "Feminine Pose" have so much more meat than what this book (i'm reviewing) has.

A compilation of ten master photographers offer their insight and techniques for portrait posing. The broad range of material covers everything including lighting and how to use it are discussed throughout. Basic and well-designed,
By J.A.Taylor "Spot" (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Professional Portrait Posing: Techniques and Images from Master Photographers (Pro Photo Workshop) (Paperback)
I found this book excellent - it presents clearly, with concise ideas and straitforward explanations. Each chapter is written by a different professional photographer on the area of their specialty (senior portraits, maternity, etc), providing the reader with expert hints and advice in each area.It is especially good because it does not overwhelm the reader with very technical details of the professionals only, nor does it demand advanced camera work. This book is as ideal for a beginning professional photographer, as well as anybody with a camera looking to maximize their techique with their own family and friends. It is only the full-on professional who may find this too simple or too basic, however it's well-priced and well-written enough that even they should find some areas that will benefit their skills, especially in their non-specialty areas if they are looking to branch out. Overall, I was very impressed with the content and the accessibility of the book and it's concept. An excellent starter that covers the basics.

Review of Professional Portrait Posing,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Professional Portrait Posing: Techniques and Images from Master Photographers (Pro Photo Workshop) (Paperback)
If you want a superficial exposure to portrait photography, then buy this book, but if you, on the other hand, choose to learn something about the craft, stay away from this glitzy, useless book. It shows you the work of highly competent portrait photographers, but offers no explanation at to their execution. There are no lighting diagrams, nor camera data. Instead, this book borrows images from other portrait photography works and leaves out the explanations that accompany them. It's title, professional portrait posing lead one to assume the book will demonstrate posing techniques: it doesn't with the exception of the inclusion of material from Monte Zukor's "Portrait Photography Handbook.
