About the Author

Patricia Schnering is the founder of PRG Publishing Inc. and Professional Review Guides Inc. She is a self-employed entrepreneur, working as owner, author and publisher for Professional Review Guides Inc. and PRG Publishing Inc. Mrs. Schnering is a 1995 graduate of the Health Information Management program at St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, FL. In 1998 she was certified as a CCS and in 1999 she received her RHIA certification. Her education includes a Baccalaureate degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL with a major in Business Administration. Prior to entering the Health Information Management field, Mrs. Schnering worked for 13 years with a national corporation in departmental management. Since 1993, she has worked in Health Information Services supervisory positions, as a HIM consultant, and as an ajdunct HIM instructor at St. Petersburg College. She has served as the president of her local association (GCHIMA) and as a delegate to the state association (FHIMA). At the state level, she has served on the board of directors and as a member of the nominations, arrangements, program committees. She was the recipient of the FHIMA Literary Award in 2000. She is a member of AHIMA and the Assembly on Education (AOE). She also serves her professional organizations by donating to the state and national educational scholarship funds.

Calee Leversee, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P is currently a physician consulting for coding and billing practices and is employed at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, FL as a Health Information Coding Analyst Manager. She is co-author of the Professional Review Guide for the CCS and CCS-P Examinations and the Professional Review Guide for the CCS and CCS-P Examination.

Toni Cade, MBA, RHIA, CCS is currently employed as Assistant Professor in the Health Information Management Department at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in Lafayette, LA. She is also an idependent consultant involved in providing educational workshops on coding (ICD-9-CM, CPT, Evaluation and Management Documentation Guidelines, and Interventional Radiology). Here consulting experience includes the performance of inpatient DRG audits.

Anita Hazelwood, MLS, RHIA, FAHIMA, is an Associate Professor in the Health Information Management Department at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette located in Lafayette, LA. She has a bachelor's degree in Medical Record Science, a Masters Degree in Library Science and has been a credentialed Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) for 25 years.
