This book is well organized according to the order of the exam objectives. If you have work experience about Servlet and JSP, you can read it and pass the SCWCD with ease. However, some questions of SCWCD exam are not listed in objectives, such as front controller, servlet code for security constraint. Therefore, the book can help you only pass SCWCD but can't help you get a high score. Other reference notes or books are needed if you want to get a high score.
Anyway, it is a good book for SCWCD.

This is a no-nonsense and "to the point" book, extremely focussed on the SCWCD exam. Little too cryptic - one has to literally read between the lines. The examples are more practical and "real-world" type, which gives the chapters a kind of "sense of completion" effect. The cheat-sheets at the end of every chapter helped to revise the important concepts.

However, this book expects a good amount of initial exposure to Servlets and JSP. This book is definitely not for a beginner. Once one has this initial exposure, he will find this book extremely useful for a quick exam preparation/review work. Preparation can be rapid since the chapters are very short and crisp and can be easily completed in one sitting. The presentation and flow is not very impressive; it follows the exam objectives too closely to have a stepwise logical flow. Also, it would have helped more to have more practice questions with every chapter and in the enclosed CD.

Although I had to buy this book in $s, I got complete satisfaction looking at the value addition to my preparation and the outcome of the exam for me.

The book provides very concise and classifed information required for the exam and the very nature of the book to "explain concept with the aid of examples" makes it a VERY useful resource. Also the Whiz mock test in the CD was of tremendous help.

Case study, the uqnique feature of the book also makes it a better book.

I am moving now towards my next Java certification and I wish Wrox had a book for the same.
