This particular Prof. Noggin game was ideal for us because we've been studying American history in our homeschool. It's nice to find a fun way to extend the learning! I now ordered other titles. Once we play this several more times, I'm sure we will have all had all the questions and will have them memorized as it's not a large deck, but that's not so bad to have kids memorizing facts about the presidents. And the price is right.
My only complaint is that some of the questions seem wrongly marked as hard or easy. For example who wrote the Declaration of Independence was supposed to be a hard question, but even the kids knew, yet a couple questions were labeled easy, but my husband and I couldn't answer them.
However, this game actually exceeded my expectations. The kids learn from the questions and answers in the game and then will remember later if the question is asked again. While this is a memorization of the facts, I can then ask a deeper question or other questions about the same thing and they are able to deduce or learn from those questions as well.
I find it actually teaches the adults a lot too, as there are many that they don't know. I'd be excited about a 3rd edition of Countries of the World, as there are several countries yet to be added...but many of those aren't taught in our education system either.
We've all enjoyed Professor Noggin's card games enough to look at purchasing other subjects as well.
Then we modified the rules of the game to make it more fun. We need to collect all continents ( 6 of them for this game) to win a game. To have a full continent, person needs a continent card ( it is in another set) or 2 countries from this continent. Australia/ Oceania is special, it requires only 1 card to full fill requirements (one out of 4 possibilities: Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, or general card about all the world).
After this rule game becomes so much more fun, knowing absolutely all may not results to win, Noggin cards change outcome to win. We all start to like this game!
