Book Description

Silhouette Bombshell August 1, 2005

FBI agent Angie Davis sees past the crime scene into the twisted criminal mind. It's a skill she hones with the guidance of her mentor, Cain...one that helps Angie predict a killer's next victim before it's too late.

But this profiler-in-training's latest case is a headache from the start. For one, she must work with maverick NYPD detective Carson Severo. And then, another kill. And another. Only this serial killer's victims seem to follow a disturbing pattern--they are all somehow connected to Angie. And it's just a matter of days before she becomes the next target....

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing read., December 11, 2005
This review is from: The Profiler (Silhouette Bombshell) (Mass Market Paperback)
I just finished this book a couple of days ago and I am still amazed that I was able to get through it. I can't imagine anyone praising this book. The characters were flat, the dialog was poorly written and contrite. It was unoriginal and there were no twists. It was immediately obvious who the culprit was and, by the time you waded through the mess of a story with the implausible plot, you really didn't care. The author kept trying to shove the character's feelings down your throat - tell you how you were supposed to feel about them - rather than write them as characters whose feelings you understood and shared. The storyline had potential but the book fell flat. This book almost put me off the "Bombshell" series altogether, but I gave it another try (afterall, I purchased 5 Bombshell books at one time and hated to dump them all!). I was very pleased with the next book I read from the series - Exit Strategy, so I'm hoping for the best in the next 3 I read. The Profiler will definitely go in the bag with the rest of my donations to the next charitable organization who calls.

4.0 out of 5 stars terrific kick butt police procedural, August 8, 2005
This review is from: The Profiler (Silhouette Bombshell) (Mass Market Paperback)
FBI Agent Angela David comes home to New York to train under legendary profiler Marcus Cain, a close friend and partner of her late father. As he tutors her on the job, they succeed in apprehending dangerous criminals; for instance they capture dangerous Zeus due to his experience and knowledge and her skill to pose as a foreigner. However, Manhattan also serves as a depressing reminder that her beloved dad was murdered with his throat sliced here.

Soon she is assigned her first case to uncover the identity of a devious serial killer. Cain introduces Angela to New York Police Officer Carson Severo who is to help her with her investigation. Though she struggles to ignore her dad's death her current case keeps intertwining with his murder. Someone apparently holds a grudge against the David family. Angela knows she must stop this serial killer before anyone else she loves is hurt.

Though the audience will wonder if Angela should have been disqualified from the investigation for personal reasons, readers will enjoy this strong heroine as she works the mean streets of New York. The romance takes a back seat to the action as physically active Angela wrestles with killers and follows them in wild Manhattan car pursuits. A final twist that seems way out adds suspense to a terrific kick butt police procedural.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Smart Read!, October 10, 2005
This review is from: The Profiler (Silhouette Bombshell) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms. May's deftly woven story will capture the reader's interest within the first few pages and hold that interest until the final page. This was a very strong suspense read with a dash of romance added to keep things well balanced.

Angela David is following in her father's footsteps. She is working hard at becoming an FBI profiler that her father would be proud of. She has returned to New York City in order to work with her mentor and fathers friend Agent Cain. She is not in the city long before she gets her first case. Men are being killed in heinous ways and there seems to be no connection...it's not long before Angie puts the clues together and finds out that to her shock that this case is going to hit much closer to home than she ever thought possible. What could a serial killing she was working on have to do with her father's death? Her only tether in this new emotional storm is detective Carson Servero. He's street smart, handsome, and willing to help her through her first case. He's attracted to her but can they mix business with pleasure...or better yet, should they?

Again readers will be drawn into this dramatic and suspenseful read. The romance between Servero and Angie is very much a "back burner" storyline but there is still enough hot chemistry between these two characters that fans of romance fiction should come away satisfied. Ms. May is a very talented author and one that should be kept in mind when looking for a plot twisting read that will keep the reader glued to the pages until the very end.
