As Clarke says in the introduction to this book, he is not, in it, trying to predict the future per se, but rather defining the boundaries in which all possible futures must lie. retro future
Clarke is really knowledgeable about science having predicted the use of orbiting satellites for communication. The book was written in 1960's, predicting what may be in the future and although most predictions have not come to pass, some have! Very interesting read.
