5.0 out of 5 stars Good Book, November 8, 2009
This review is from: Profitable Portraits: The Photographer's Guide to Creating Portraits That Sell (Paperback)
Great educational book. Almost everything is covered when it come to creating Profitable Portraits. Jeff ones again makes it very easy to read and understand with some great examples and inspiring images.
This book goes into the direction to those photographers who want to start their own business or just starting to set up a Studio and want to develop their own Style and their own Strategie on how to shoot for Profitable Portraits.
Since each Photographer has their own Style some points would not work for everybody, but this is not a "one size fit's all" Business either.
I really liked reading this book, and highly recommend it, as it gives you motivation and the "push" to achieve what you are looking for when opening your own business.
As always Jeff, onces again a job well done.
THANKS !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVED THIS BOOK!!, August 4, 2009
This review is from: Profitable Portraits: The Photographer's Guide to Creating Portraits That Sell (Paperback)
I bought this book in 2006 when I was thinking about entering in the world of owning my own studio. This is really a great book. It really goes into detail the different things that go into making and creating a picture that sells. It takes into consideration the clothes, the lighting, the posing, not to mention the equipment and the presentation of those images. This is a great book as it has ideas that are really great. However not everything is going to work for everyone. Each of us have our own creative sytle. I use the ideas in this book as a great starting point and then really use them to expand on what I am really trying to achieve and the goals that I am trying to set for myself. Great Job Jeff!! Thank you so much!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners or those intersted in shooting for pay, July 26, 2009
This review is from: Profitable Portraits: The Photographer's Guide to Creating Portraits That Sell (Paperback)
Jeff Smith does a great job educating those who are just starting out or want to get into the photography business. I totally agree with him that many need to develop their own style and learn how to shoot under certain conditions more than just having all the right equipment. This would have saved me a lot of money if i would have read this book prior to investing in all my camera and lighting eqpmt! (Some of which i don't really use much.) As with his other books, Jeff makes it easy to read and understand with good examples to illustrate his points. The book is loaded with beautiful and inspiring images. He also shares some insight on photo retocuhing which really clears up my questions about how some images got to their final form. In addition, a recurring theme in this book is "what is the client looking for?" Jeff uses many real life examples to answer this question. Again, this book is more geared towards those who could use some help in developing strategies on how to have a succesful photography business and how to develop their own photographic style. I truly enojoyed reading this book and found that it gave me more motivation to move forward with my side business. I give it 2 thumbs up and recommend it wholeheartely! Thanks again Jeff!
