5.0 out of 5 stars Profoem 315 CX Bike - great product March 10, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
Delivery was very quick. The seat goes way up to the front, so a shorter person can find a comfortable position. (It also goes way back, so a tall person will ride comfortably, also.) I find that I usually am holding on to the handles next to the seat as that is where the heart rate monitor contacts are. The seat feels good on the back - good lumbar support. And it is nicely padded. I can plug in my iPod (or any mp3 player) and it has speakers in the console. Much better than wearing headphones! It has volume controls on the display panel. It is quite heavy, but has little wheels in the front so you can pick up the rear and wheel it around. The UPS guy was happy that he did not have to negotiate any steps to get the big, heavy box inside - I put the bike in my attached garage. So far I have no complaints at all and enjoyed my first ride. It took about 2 hours to assemble, and they give you all the hardware and tools - 4 Allen wrenches - that you need to assemble it. The only thing they do not supply is an adjustable wrench to tighten the pedals. It seems to be very sturdy and steady. I don't think I could tip it over if I tried. The display is large enough to read without glasses, and the controls are large enough to see easily. The display uses 110v, rather than batteries. It comes with a power pack - actually a battery eliminator. They say to unplug it when not in use. That seems to be my only complaint, and it is a very, very minor inconvenience. All-in-all, a great product.

2.0 out of 5 stars Design Flaw May 28, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
Before purchasing this excercise bike I read alot of the reviews of bikes in this price range and the Proform really had the most positive reviews of any bike in the near $400 range. After using the bike several times I am really surprised that no one pointed out this major design flaw. The pedals are placed too close to the center console. My shoes and legs are constantly coming in to contact with the center console. I don't see a real easy fix to this problem unless I am missing something. Oh and don't think I'm 350 plus pounds and have tree trunks for legs. 5'11" 205 pounds, and pretty average legs. I have used quite a few recumbant bikes at health clubs and I have never encountered this problem.

Well since I can't disassemble it and box it back up I guess I will just have to deal with the annoyance of constantly hitting the center console during work outs.

I am wishing I went with the Schwin which was my second choice. Like I said I am really surprised no one else has enountered this with all the postive reviews out there.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not working after a month! October 28, 2012
By J. Shi
Amazon Verified Purchase
We bought this a month ago and it arrived in five days. We spent about 2 hours to assemble it, which is fine. However, once it is connected to the power, the bike made a lot of noise and we cannot peddle the wheel. It completely stuck. We called Proform and the rep thought that the motor was broken. She ordered the parts and and told me that I can call their contractor Goconfigure to get a technician to fix it once I get the part. It took a week to get the part and another 3 days for the tech to come. The technician spent a hour or two put in the new motor and the same thing happen again! After another hour calling his center, he told me the console may have a shot circuit which causing the motor to burn. He told me he will order a new console and a new motor and I still need to call them once parts are here. 10 days after that, I received nothing and called Proform. They told me the parts were ordered two days ago and I will receive them in 2 weeks! It has been more than a month since I ordered this bike and it never worked for a second! Who knows how much longer I have to wait.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Solid Bike, Some Issues & Service not so good February 15, 2013
From my wife Sarah: I had an old Proform recumbent bike that broke. I was really happy with it for many years. My back was comfortable on it, and it worked well for me. The first level of pedal resistance was very low, which was great for my knees. The chair felt good on my lower back, and the seat was tall enough to support my upper back. The seat back was straight up and down, so that my neck and back were straight, and not leaning backwards which most bikes have. This was comfortable for me. I have rather severe back, neck and knee issues, so these things are really important for me.

I had to replace my old Proform quickly, so I tried every bike on the floor at Sears, Sports Authority, Dick's, and even in some specialty exercise equipment stores. Nothing came close to the comfort of the Proform I had, not even the newer Proforms. After exhausting every option, I finally decided to buy another Proform anyway, since it gave me the least discomfort of any of the bikes I tried, and seemed more sturdy than most in that price range.

This bike was not available in any of the stores to try. The Proform bikes that the retail stores were carrying had so many terrible reviews on Amazon that I decided to take a chance and buy this bike, site unseen, because the reviews on Amazon were better.

Here are the pros and cons of this bike:

Pros:

- It's very sturdy and seems well built.

- The seat back and bottom are padded, and wide enough to provide support. I strongly dislike the seats that look like regular bike seats because they're quite uncomfortable and non-supportive. This seat is shaped like a regular chair seat, which I find more comfortable.

- The control panel is easy to understand and use.
