I was given this book as a gift and have not finished it yet but I wanted to write a review. I am not typically a Sci-Fi enthusiast but so far this book is sooooo good, I can't seem to put it down. The characters are so interesting and the storyline is facinating, it is definitely a page turner!!! And speaking of pages, I love the size of this book, it is larger than a typical paperback and the pages are thick and sturdy...I love that! I am excited to see where this storyline goes. I will write another review once I have finished. Since this is not a typical book for me, I have to say that I loved the gift and would definitely buy this for someone else who doesn't typically read Sci-Fi.

I enjoyed "Progenitor: Palak and the Sky Gods" by Patrick T. German. It was a good blend of science fiction with the old prehistoric kind of novels I read when younger. I thought German did a good job of blending the two while creating characters that you wanted to know more about and what would happen to them.

I especially enjoyed some of the fight scenes and battles. They were well written and descriptive. And because they were not all human vs. human battles, the description was important, and I felt that was one of the author's strong points.

There was only one thing I didn't care for as much, and that was the tense the author chose to tell the story. This is a minor concern, and a personal preference. For example, here is a line, "The next morning upon returning from the river, Palak is met by Urlak, who takes him inside his hut." I'd have preferred the book to have been written like this, "The next morning upon returning from the river, Palak met Urlak, who took him inside his hut." Again, that is just my personal preference, and I still enjoyed the story about these interesting characters.

This is the first of a series, and while the main story featured in this book resolved, it leaves you wanting to know what happens next. The first couple of chapters of the next novel in the series are included, and it looks like it will be another fun read. If you like science fiction and fantasy, check out the Progenitor series by Patrick T. German.

The first few chapters of this book take a fair amount of concentration. The characters and the setting are so different from what I'm used to reading that they took some time to comprehend. But once you get a clear picture in your mind, the rest of the book continually gains momentum. It's very easy to get wrapped up in the story. It has twists and turns that left me excited to see what happened next. In fact, i was completely caught off guard regarding how interested I would be. I travel a fair amount and always bring a book along to read. When I return home from my trip, I usually have a few chapters left. This book was different. I started it when I was in the plane on my way to my business trip. After I started, I couldn't put it down. In fact, I stayed up until 1am to finish it! ...and of course I dreamed about it all night. This is a first for me. Great book! I can't wait for the next installment.

Intriguing! Captivating! You won't be able to put it down, worse yet, you'll have to wait to read the other two books of the trilogy.

An awesome and fast read brought to you by Patrick T. German. Better remember that name, as this first book of a soon to be trilogy gains traction among the sci-fi community. The beginning can be challenging as there are many characters with unique names all developing at the same time, so pay careful attention to detail.
Each character is fantastically built and quite unique, which really adds depth to an already great story. The fight scenes are plentiful and in epic detail with a couple of badasses that are so powerful and cunning, you feel like they are completely unmatched.

Once you get familiar with the characters all bets are off and good luck putting this book down for the duration. Cannot wait for the next one!

This book is challenging at first...getting to know and "feel" the characters of the different species and their motives. But once into their separate but intertwined existances, it becomes a gripping story that is basic human nature at its best and most primal state and survival in its most sophisticated form. Surprising, exciting and ultimately, a fresh look at what may be, not too far fetched from our world. A must read....I wish I could see this on the Big Screen!!!
