Editorial Reviews

Review

"Erik Williams' latest is tough, dark, and assured. There's grit and grue to spare. Progeny is an escalator ride straight down into some subbasement of Hell." -Laird Barron

"Crisp dialogue and hair-trigger action make the scenes crackle with tension." -Weston Ochse, author of SEALTeam 666

"As always, Erik Williams delivers heart-stopping action, clean and stylistic prose, and unforgettable characters - if sometimes flawed and brutal - in Progeny. Blood magic and brutality! Highly recommended." -John Hornor Jacobs, author of This Dark Earth and Southern Gods

"The prose is mean, gritty, relentlessly paced. Readers of Cain and Chandler should feel at home here...well, except for the severed heads, of course. This is the new Hard-Boiled, and Erik Williams has just proven himself its most brutal and self-assured voice." -Joe McKinney, author of Flesh Eaters and Dead City

I have been a fan of Erik Williams since reading Demon. Progeny is better than Demon, and I loved Demon. This book is unlike anything I have read in that it expertly combines the pulp crime element of Mickey Spillane with an incredibly dark tale of magic and evil straight from the mind of today's best horror writers. The dialogue is as crisp as Elmore Leonard, and there is enough wry humor to keep the pages turning. The ending is damn near perfect, and I cannot recommend Progeny enough.

Erik Williams is developing a must follow mythos of his own involving cults and Santa Muerta. PROGENY is his most fully realized of these stories yet, and I'm looking forward to more.

Erik has a talent similar to Stephen King. I think you will enjoy ALL of his books.
It seems he just gets better and better.

Hard-hitting prose with tough-guy noir narration combines with a lot of sex, danger, and dark occult menace to make Progeny an engaging and compelling book. Excellent focus on realistic backdrops allow the supernatural a solid foundation, so it's all the more believable. And talk about a femme fatale, yikes. This one knocks your socks off, then your head if you're not lucky. Recommended for both hardcore mystery fans and horror fans. -- Gene Stewart
