Doctor recommends The Program,
By T Goslin (New Jersey, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Program for Better Vision (Tra (Paperback)
I will be 79 this summer and have been coping with glaucoma for 12 years. My doctor recommended that I try the techniques in The Program for Better Vision, which he said could help to improve circulation, which in turn can lower intra-ocular pressure. This seems to be happening and my last 'vision field' tests showed remarkable improvement - some of my lost peripheral vision has returned.I'm extremely gratified that I found your book.

Vision improves more than 25%,
By G (WA USA) - See all my reviews

When I started this program, my perscription was -4.75 in each eye with enough astigmatism that I had to wear glasses to correct it. Now, three months later, I wear contacts at -3.50 and no correction for astigmatism and am seeing 20/20. I have hope that someday I might not need lenses at all.

Personal experience in recovering clear vision,
By Thayne Logan (Illinois, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Program for Better Vision (Tra (Paperback)
Martin Sussman's book, "The Program For Better Vision" is a resource of unlimited value to the glasses and/or contacts wearer who has received the blessing of a glimpse into the value of natural vision improvement. It is also a resource of great use to the experienced natural vision improver. The complete program of The Cambridge Institute For Better Vision is included in the book. The three and a half year involvement that I have had in the Program after 40 years of strong nearsightedness has brought remarkable changes to my life through the joy of seeing more clearly naturally. Improving my vision is an experience of accumulation of positive changes, factor building upon factor, virtually on a daily basis. I have been able to refer to the book as often as I choose and need to for continual education and guidance, and this allows my journey into visual clarity and joy to unfold into deeper and more profound levels of experience as I go. In this society of commitment to the quick fix, the belief has been thrown at us that simply putting on a disfiguring and distortion-bringing pair of glasses or contacts is "vision care." Nothing could be further from the truth. We even now have a wide-spread movement into laser surgery to "correct vision." Mr. Sussman's book offers a most wonderful alternative to these unfortunate approaches, as it addresses the very foundations of the causes of lowered vision in one's life and directs us on a new path of healing answers. As he says, our clear vision has been there all the time, just waiting to re-emerge. Don't look for a quick fix in this book; look for a REAL one. The Program For Better Vision addresses the broader areas affecting vision and life: nutrition, exercise, posture, natural healing, stress and relaxation, and mental and emotional health, to name a few. It is a practical program geared toward practical benefits. One of the educational positives of the book is the opportunity it presents to learn about all the many aspects of vision. Vision is far more than just being able to read the letters on the eye chart, or pass the driver's license exam; it is a full aspect of life. Although natural vision improvement and putting away one's glasses and contacts has been a well-kept secret in the past, it is becoming better known as people seek more sensible and fulfilling ways of living. The Program For Better Vision is a wonderful place to start and return to again and again for those seeking a new, joyful, and healthy way to the powers of our incredible gift of natural visual experience.

Thorough and Clear,
By Tracey S. "Tracey" (Austin and Houston, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Program for Better Vision (Tra (Paperback)
The information is presented in a very clear, well-organized, and succinct way. The instructions for the exercises are very clear and thorough. I especially like the "What to Watch For" and "Notes" sections for each exercise. I feel like it's hard not to do these exercises correctly with all the notes and observations the author adds. The testimonials at the beginning and the introductory chapters really gave me hope and enthusiasm in this program. I just started the program, but I feel this book will have been valuable even if I do not see improvement in the "First Stage" of the program. The "First Stage" is only 8 weeks, with a simple exercise for each day. Eight weeks is quite a short time considering how long it took for some of our vision to have deteriorated this much. The exercises taught seem like they should be helpful in the prevention of my worsening nearsightedness, if not improvement. I read through the non-exercises part of this book quickly--its content is all relevant. It seems helpful to read through the exercises before starting because some may require other materials, such as a fusion string for the first exercise or a voice recorder for the visualization exercise later on. The schedule asks that you follow it strictly (6 days a week with the 7th day as a rest day) so I'd rather not discover that I'm missing materials on the day for a certain exercise. I wish the materials were either included in the book or that we were warned that it might be helpful to order the materials from The Cambridge Institute for Better Vision. The materials are easy to make or find, though--it's just a "tad" more trouble.

Better than the other books!,

If you are looking around Amazon at all the different vision improvement books, this is the one that is worth investing in. It is clear, succinct, and offers a step by step program that is thoroughly outlines and easy to follow. A lot of the other books on the subject offer a lot of information, but fail to give the reader a program to follow. Martin Sussman's book also explains why and how vision works and why it will improve with this program. I just got the book, but already his techniques have completely changed my (previously negative)attitude toward my vision.

In control of my own vision now,
By garth reynolds (Boulder, Colorado United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Program for Better Vision (Tra (Paperback)
When I was in sixth grade, I realized I could not read the blackboard from the back of the classroom. Since then I have struggled with glasses and contacts. I felt frustrated that my vision was to deteriorate and their was nothing I could do about it. I was told to accept my fate and deal with the necessity of glasses and contacts. Now as an alternative there is laser surgery. As with any surgery, it is permanent, irreversable and their are real risks. I was offered no education or guidelines by my doctors on how I can take active steps to improve my vision. My whole outlook on my vision has changed since reading "The Program for Better Vision" by Martin Sussman. It is for those who have felt helpless or uneducated to do anything for their own visual heath. It teaches you how to take positive steps to imporove your own vision naturally and safely in a clear, easy to follow program. I learned a great deal from Martin Sussman's book. For instance vision is not just mechanical function of the eyes. Vision is a trinity of physical eysight, emotional seeing and inner vision. The program is designed to improve your vision on all three levels. Many of my misconceptions about vision were proved wrong such as poor vision is inherited, I now have a whole new outlook on my vision. I feel the health of my vision is in my own hands. I feel empowered to take positive steps in my life to improve my vision with out glasses, contacts or surgery.

Hooray for this book!,

I don't wear glasses and want to keep it that way! I'm 36 and noticing problems when I'm reading. Mr. Sussman's book is inspiring and easy to understand. His program is simple to follow, but very effective. It really helped me "see" the psychological reasons behind my vision limitations (as well as ways to help myself) and also tought me about good eyesight habits that will keep me from needing glasses in the future. Thank you, Mr. Sussman, for such a practical and holistic program!

Said to be "The Most user-friendly book on vision ever written",
By
This review is from: Program for Better Vision (Tra (Paperback)
This review appeared in Vision News a newsletter published by C.J. Wilson, a vision educator in North Carolina:"In one of the most user-friendly books ever written on vision, Martin Sussman guides us on a path to understand and improve vision through personal change and a few minutes each day of activities. Martin Sussman has been teaching vision improvement for a long time! I attended his EYECLASSES Seminar in 1979, and his extensive experience shines through clearly in this well-thought-out book. Sussman offers a beautiful summary of "vision". It includes physical eyesight, emotional seeing, and inner vision. Physical sight involves more than 20/20 acuity. It includes the main skills of central-peripheral integration, teamwork between the eyes, and focusing. Inner vision is the mind's eye, in all its different aspects, including imagination, memory, dreams, attitudes and visualization. Emotional seeing refers to the eyes as both a way to express how we feel and a way to connect to other people. "The eyes are so often called 'the windows to the soul'; better vision is a way to heal, clarify and open these windows, allowing us to be open to a deeper connection to others and to give and receive more easily and fully." The book uses affirmations extensively and offers easy-to-use instruction for explring vision and its connection to life in general. The author offers simple guidelines to structure your program, such as deciding what glasses to use and how to use them, setting up a place and time to practice, and begin with an 8-week first stage. New guidance and activities are offered for a second stage for those who choose to continue beyond the 8 weeks."
