Classic House from a Godfather, June 14, 2008

This album is probably 10 or even 15 years old and I still think it is relevant in today's music world. It certainly holds it own against the current music. David Morales is in my opinion the Godfather of House. I first heard his song In de Ghettho with Crystal Waters when I was dancing on the MTV Beach House in Malibu the summer of graduating high school. For me, it was the first taste of real dance music and I was in love. The whole album is funky with great vocals and a lot of flavor. It is so interesting to see how house music and dance music in general has evolved and really branched off in so many directions. This album represents the early flavor of New York in the mid 90's, the diversity which I think was part of the city's character. Influenced by spanish sounds as well as hip hop. David Morales takes you on a journey and makes you think with this cd. He is an amazing and influential artist. I wish I could see him in action here in New York. I have lived here for 3 years and never had a chance to see him spin. As far as I am concerned, he is an icon for the flavor of house music, which in itself is such an amazing and diverse expression of dancing and emotions.
