Editorial Reviews

Review

"PROGRAM EVALUATION is a book that delivers on its title. If you want to know how to conduct a program evaluation, this book gives you all the basic tools that you need to know. Royse et al. have continued a formula that has worked in its previous editions Â- using plain language to explain how to conduct evaluations and providing plenty of up-to-date examples that students can relate to."

"All things considered, this is a really fine text. Â… it strikes an incredibly good balance with the amount of detail and information it provides students Â- enough to understand the concepts and apply the skills, but not so much as to overwhelm them. It is easy to read and will be easy to teach from."

4.0 out of 5 stars decent evaluative text book, December 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a pretty good social work evaluation book. It's not too big, so as not to overwhelm folks, I guess. As a person that's interesting in pursuing evaluation/research work in the future, this book laid a good foundation. It provides definitions, uses, and detailed examples of each type of evaluation. Even more so, each type of evaluation is listed in terms of level of difficulty and level of effectiveness (co-effective evaluation being the most difficult but produces some of the best results, for example). This book is also good for students that don't know anything about evaluation, are easily confused, or just down right detest something at could involve this type of critical thinking. You'll be fine.

1.0 out of 5 stars Complete ripoff!, December 22, 2009
This book is a small paperback that would typically retail for about $30 compared to most textbooks this size that I have had in the past (I am a graduate student, so I've been through a lot of books). At over $100 this book is the biggest ripoff I have ever purchased in my college career.
