Ok, first of all I don't know what your all talking about. The Program is one of the best albums I've ever heard.. with soaring melodies, driving guitars, excellent lyrics... songs like The Smile, Comeback, Miyoko Hideaway, Sparkle, Powder Room Plan just so do it for me. Its britpop with a touch of glam thrown in. Very Dramatic.. very emotional. I personally prefer it to This World and Body.

Well Marion's follow up album to This World and Body, The Program carries the same sound over from the last album. Crunchy hard hitting riffs, with occasional use of acoustic and chorus affected guitars, and punchy bass lines. The lyrics of Jaime Harding are quite good, very direct, and he definitely takes ques from Morrissey. His singing on this album is also above what I expected in a way, he has a very powerful voice. Some stand out tracks for me were The Smile, Sparkle, Is That So, Strangers, and The Powder Room Plan, great guitar work and choruses in each. A few more acoustic numbers than the last album and the songs tend to be much longer in length. There is something here to be appreciated if you liked what Marion were putting out with the first album but it's not a clone of the first album with a new name on it, some call it a disappointment, I would call it growth. Either way Marion were and still are an unappreciated band that really deserve a listen.

If you think that Program sounds like This World and Body, you're wrong. Program lacks of the creativity and power of Marion's first album: guitars are less distorted and the production seems to be less elaborated. It's obvious that Marion were short of ideas during the writing/recording of this album. Still, there are some good songs (Strangers, Smile, Comeback, Sparkle). If you're a Marion fan, you must definetely have to buy it; but if you only like brit pop and This World and Body didn't turn your world upside down, you can save that money and buy something else.

i give "world&body" 3 stars because of the "time". actually this second album is better overall,"come back" & "what are we waiting for" & "miyako hideaway"are pretty compassionate & i like the vocal of Jamie Harding v.much.

What a major disappointment -- after the excellent World & Body I was expecting much more. This release is terribly unexciting; even boring. Gone are the driving guitars, urgency, and soaring melodies that propelled many of the songs on the first release. Instead The Program offers slower and mostly dull songs - nothing to hum. If you haven't heard Marion, start with World & Body -- it's classic indie rock somewhere between the English groups Mansun and 3 Colors Red. Skip this disappointment.
